  • Great house with awesome location

"Great older home that has been very well maintained. The location couldn't have been any better and the fact that the house is right on the ocean with fantastic lava tidal pools allowed us to watch and admire many sea turtles during our stay. Kathy was fantastic during the booking and providing us with easy to understand instructions regarding the gate code, key box, etc. The only minor issue is a lack of central air conditioning. During our visit, the Kona temperature was HOT and the lack of central air was a mild inconvenience. The Master Bedroom did have a window unit that was a savior. Usual summer temperatures are rarely this hot, so there usually is no need for air conditioning. I'd recommend Kathy's lovely home to anyone wanting to stay near Kona (about a 5 minute drive from the home)."

  • Missing this place already...

"We had such a wonderful time in Kona. The views from this condo were breathtaking and I enjoyed every morning on the lanai with my coffee, listening to the waves. The condo is equipped with everything you need and minutes from one of the best snorkeling beaches and other great beaches. We enjoyed every moment and can't wait to return!"

  • Great place to stay---close to everything.

"We needed a place to stay close to Kailua and found the Kona Makai to be just just right--only 5 minutes by car or 20 minute walk to town. Our top floor unit had a loft for some extra teen room and the two twins in the 2nd bedroom provided great sleeping flexibility. Kitchen was well stocked as promised and we cooked at the BBQs most nights--never having to wait and enjoying the fraternity with others. For sunset, we joined the others by the water since our balcony didn't view that direction--but all good again with just a short walk and plenty of plastic glasses in stock. They are serious about the pool rules with a vigilant manager on site--no kids after 8pm and all out by 9pm. Never had a problem with parking, though spots are assigned and you will have to walk a bit. Can always double park a bit for loading & unloading. Accessing the water for snorkeling just off the rocks there was not hard for adults (watch others first!), but not something for kids. Just down the road was the perfect easy access place though (Kahaluu Bay). Long sandy beaches aren't to be found in the south, but about an hour north is plenty (Hapuna perfect for boogie boarding). And don't miss the Volcano National Park! Overall, great location and nice place to stay!"

  • 15 wonderful days in paradise.

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a very wonderful time in Condo. Beautiful sunsets and pleasant views. One day for a couple of hours we watched spinner dolphins playing in the water in front of the Condo. Great places to eat close by. Enjoyed the music at the Lava Java restaurant next door. Clean, nice pool and very private. Only problem which you don't have control of is the noise on Alii Drive."
