  • This place was a dream. We didn't want to leave!

"My husband, myself and our 17th month old daughter stayed at this amazing property. First of all, the location is perfect, it's super convenient to Safeway, restaurants and many beautiful beaches. It was literally like 8 minutes to a really great beach and snorkeling spot, which we frequented. But, the best part of the house was the incredible ocean view. The property is two stories, with two huge balcony's pretty much directly over the water. We spent a lot of time on the balcony drinking our morning coffee, enjoying the sound of the waves, watching the insane sunsets, even seeing the tropical fish in the water below and spinner dolphins in the distance. The house was modern, beautifully decorated and offered everything you needed. We felt very comfortable here, as well. We felt like it was our own little Hawaiian home. I have never been so sad to leave a vacation rental but we already have plans to return next year and make an annual trip out of it! Also, the owners were very responsive to my emails, which is always a plus. Believe me when I say, you will not be disappointed if you choose to stay here. Aloha!"

  • Wonderful stay

"We were lucky to have stayed here for 4 months, a few weeks in the lower unit and the rest of the time in the upper. The views are incomparable and we sorely miss waking up to the Kona coast. Being up mauka made for comfortable temperatures, especially for sleeping, and wonderful privacy. It was so nice to get out of the heat of the coast with a quick drive to the farm. We loved walking around the farm grounds and watching all of the wildlife (TONS of birds such as parrots, wild turkeys, pheasants, Hawaii chickens, egrets, cardinals, and mynas; then mongoose and geckos). I could not help smiling every evening listening to the pigs and other animals rustle around eating macadamia nuts. Watching the turkeys peck at mangoes that dropped from the massive trees was also amusing. Each unit truly does have everything you'd need, but we were more comfortable in the upper unit. The kitchen is fully stocked. The lower unit bathroom is very fancy, the upper unit baths less so but perfectly functional. It's easiest if both renters park in the garage, which frees up the extra space at the top of the driveway to back up and then drive down. The walk from the garage to the units is steep...good exercise! Al was very responsive to any questions or concerns and even gave us a bag of Kona beans during one of his visits. We met the groundsman and one of the workers from the UCC coffee farm next door, and they were so friendly. All in all, this was a wonderful, unique place to stay and we enthusiastically recommend it!"

  • Nice Modern Condo

"This is a very nice, updated, modern condo in a great location right on the ocean with a "to die for" view from the lanai. The building has covered parking and a pool, although the pool and surrounding deck will be closed for renovation sometime next year (2018). The owners live a mile away, but only for 6 months of the year. They live on the mainland and/or are traveling the rest of the time, but reachable by cell phone/email. A caretaker is used when the owners are off the island, and she was very helpful during our stay. We appreciated the direct booking with the owner which saved us some money. However, there are a few negatives. Be prepared for a long list of rules, including doing some laundry before you leave. We paid a cleaning fee which should include all laundry. We had to launder the beach towels, and it was requested, but not mandated, that we wash the sheets. A limited amount of the basics are supplied initially, but if you run out of things like toilet paper, paper towels, body wash, etc., you will need to replace them. We couldn't even find an extra garbage bag in the condo. Due to allergies to scented laundry detergent, we requested that laundry detergent free of dyes and perfumes be used to wash the sheets and towels before we arrived. The owners accommodated our request, but because there was a caretaker at the time of our stay, we were charged for both the new laundry detergent and her time. It seemed a little petty. Even though we got to keep the detergent (but had no intention or way of bringing home to the mainland), the owner could have kept it and used for future guests. We made the same request of the owners of the place we stayed at in Hilo, and they cheerfully accommodated our request without a charge. The place in Hilo uses a caretaker all year long, as the owners are never in residence. Overall, we were happy with the condo and its quiet location close to many of the sights we explored."
