  • September rental on Big Island

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great location - not far from the highways, restaurants and downtown. Also a beach just across the road had lots of fish, and we even saw a turtle in the water several times. Good and clean inside, air conditioner in the living room - no A/C in the bedrooms. The only comment - the bed was too soft for my taste and I would prefer thinner blanket, as was pretty hot in our bedroom at night."

  • Great Condo, location & month in Hawaii!

"This is a very well appointed condo in a well kept complex centrally located to the Kailua-Kona activities and shops. Our family of 5-7 adults and young children had an excellent visit during the Jan/Feb "winter". The condo is nicely furnished and had just about everything we needed to enjoy our stay on the island. We especially enjoyed the outdoor living and dining on the extended patio with the peek-a-boo ocean view. We did a lot of cooking and, while the kitchen is relatively small (it's a condo!), it had almost every appliance, tool and dish we needed. The beds were comfortable, there were plenty of linens. There's lots of beach and pool equipment in the closet - we took the beach chairs across the street to Honi's beach for sunset whenever we were "home" at 6pm. What could be better? Well, the internet and cable TV is old style Time-Warner so it could be a little spotty. We moved the wireless router a bit and got better coverage outside. Don't count on the futon in the loft for adult bedding - the frame was broken and the repair didn't hold for our 120 lb. daughter. Bedroom curtains need to be redone - the rods don't match the rings making it difficult to open and close the drapes. There's no DVD player so no DVD library. If you want to watch them, you'll need to hook your computer to the TV (there are 2 very large screens). I suggest a Google Chromecast which you can bring or buy (at mainland prices). The smart TVs can get you Amazon, Netflix, etc. so, except when the streaming was glitchy, we used our existing accounts. Only ONE parking spot (uncovered) for a 3 bedroom condo was a bit of a hassle. We had to park the second car outside the gate - there was always a spot near the front gate. We forgot to move it from the guest spots a night or two and it wasn't towed away so that's nice. Never did find a mop - all the downstairs living areas are tiled so after a couple weeks the floors could have used a mopping. We used the nice little vacuum cleaner almost daily. Introduce yourself to the manager when you arrive - he drives around in a golf cart. He's a good resource both in and outside of the complex. The only reason we wouldn't return is that we're not retired so taking an entire month off isn't always possible for us - but we're working on figuring out when we can do it again!"

  • Mele Kalikimaka from Hale Pahukoa

"Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our daughter graduated from University of Hawaii in Hilo and we decided it was an ideal time to for a Hawaiian Christmas. I think we have a new tradition! It was the perfect way to spend the holidays with family and Hale Pahukoa was a great place to stay. We loved having a pool AND beach access. We were a little worried that "retro or vintage" could mean old, outdated, or dumpy but not the case here. We found that the house was "as described" and we were not disappointed. It was clean and had all we needed for our stay. I recommend a quick call to the management company before arrival to ensure they have your name at the gate and the pool has had a recent cleaning. We had to wait at the gate for about an hour because security did not have our name and they had to get it all sorted before we were allowed entry. I would not have even mentioned this but I understand this was not a "one-time" incident. Can't beat the location, close to town and on the water. We especially enjoyed the lanai. We will do it again!"
