  • Idyllic Tropical Paradise in a great location

"This condo sits on the ocean with a lovely view of the water. Besides the dining table on the lanai, there's a comfy chair to sit with your coffee or cocktail while reading a good book or catching up on emails. The unit was recently nicely refurbished, making it a delightful island vacation spot. The kitchen is well equipped for those, like us, who like to cook in for most meals. Beds are very comfortable. Julie is very accommodating and gets back to the guests via text in a timely manner. We kept very busy visiting the volcano, the national historic park, Hawi, the botanical gardens in Hilo, and much, much more. There is plenty of good snorkeling and hiking to keep the active tourist busy. Kanaloa at Kona is only 15 minutes from Kailua-Kona and a little less than 1/2 hour from Costco. We enjoyed our stay very much and would stay there again in a heart beat."

  • Nearly perfect!

"We stayed for 5 nights with our adult children in this charming house. It had everything we needed and more. The house is comfortable, well decorated in welcoming colors and furnishings and easy to relax in. Our favorite parts were the big front porch with stylish and relaxing seating, the beautiful and lush huge garden and the chickens and bunnies out back. The only drawback is the road noise during 'rush' hour but even that can't dampen our enthusiasm for Redgate and the host family, Sally and Allan. Also it was handy to walk to a coffee plantation, a church, a small grocery store and some restaurants. It truly was a moment in paradise for us."

  • A heavenly retreat

"As a former resident of Kailua-Kona, I periodically return to visit friends and plug back in to the Kona vibe. I am so thrilled to find my new retreat for those visits! Kona Makai (most especially Building 1) is as perfect as it gets...breathtaking views from the lanai of the gorgeous tropical grounds, the beautiful blue Pacific Ocean with daily dolphin shows, and the magnificent Hualalai. My soul is restored every time I'm here, and I'm so at peace that I actually forget there is a world outside of Kona Makai. From the minute I walked into the condo, I felt welcomed and at home. Jon and Suzanne have thought of practically everything to make your stay feel homey, from a comfy and cozy bed to a superbly well-stocked and tidy kitchen. The Good Lord willing, I will definitely return next year!"
