  • Kona Sugar Shack, wonderful experience!

"John and Jae were so friendly and helpful. The house is awesome, separate suites for our large group but a big central kitchen and lanai with a table big enough for our group of 15 to have a great Thanksgiving dinner enjoying a perfect sunset reflected in the ocean. The location is perfect, close to shopping and restaurants but not in a tourist hub. The house is very well equipped with everything we needed to prepare a great dinner, play or relax by the pool."

"Pineapple Hale provided our large family (11 total) a very comfortable and spacious setting to enjoy our week on the Big Island. The layout of the property accommodated our big family with plentiful sleeping quarters and shower/bathroom space. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen and central living areas gave us everything we needed to cook large meals and eat as a family together. We never found ourselves missing something, as the owners have truly thought of everything. In particular, we are a very active family and the garage had everything from snorkel gear and body boards to cycling gear and coolers for our use. The bookshelves and counters had recommendations and travel brochures for just about everything you could want to do. The private beach behind the house is a spectacular mix of black lava and white corral. We were blessed with the opportunity to watch the Kailua fireworks show from the comfort of the house beach during our trip. It was amazing. The house made for an amazing family week."

"Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was more than happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our VRBO was perfect for our needs. Plenty of space for everyone--it was located upstairs which was not indicated in the description but was ok for our group. We enjoyed our stay on the big island!"

  • Excellent location, amenities and value!

"After 4 visits to the Big Island we found our "sweet spot" on the Kohala coast. We were in residence for a week and a half in mid January and already planning our next visit. This condominium is the perfect size and location for one or two couples. Until now it had been a challenge to find a beautifully appointed, perfectly located smaller property for one couple. Too many of the premier properties have more than 3 bedrooms, leaving one couple with too much unused/unwanted space at much higher rental rates. Also, the entire property of Kumulani is a very well built, well laid out and well designed property. 60+ years of living in a family of builders/developers/interior designers I understand these critical elements, and this property and specifically this home, hits the mark. Being able to access the amenities at the Mauna Kea and Hapuna Prince hotels completes the perfect package. (An additional, but very worthwhile, expense.) A quick drive (or longer walk) to both hotels gives the best of both worlds. Privacy in a lovely home with amazing sunset vistas- photos are spot on- as well as the benefits of your own beach club with excellent restaurants. The cabanas on the grass at the Mauna Kea, enjoying a midday lunch is heavenly. The best beach on the island, by the way. Sutton and Anne have created a casually elegant home that has been appointed with more amenities than most. Their home is indeed one of the best locations on this property and I would venture to say one of the most beautifully decorated interiors. They were exceptionally easy to work with from booking through our departure. The highest level of Viking appliances, large BBQ on the deck and a fully stocked kitchen also make this a cook's dream. The master bedroom was very comfortable with views in two directions. The cross breezes from this well designed floor plan added to the joy of simply leaving windows open day and night, especially since all were well screened. We enjoyed nightly sunsets and incredible starry skies from the wrap around lanai. We give this little piece of paradise our highest recommendation."
