  • Recommending it to our friends

"We had a wonderful time @ Close But Far, which was clean, modestly and sweetly appointed, and in an excellent location for exploring the Bay. The owner, Charles, was super friendly and helpful; and we were highly entertained by Scooby and Rat Cat. The home is perfect for a single traveler or couple, but with an airbed added to the lanai, worked great for us and our offspring. We live on the island and found this spot to be a perfect Big I getaway. We felt right at home at Close But Far and hope to be back. Thank you, Charles!"

  • Tropical oasis

"A beautiful secluded setting with a sweeping view. Vika and Mike have made it a very comfortable but still rustic vacation spot. People who want to sit by a pool and be pampered should probably look elsewhere but the seasoned and adventurous travelers wont be disappointed. We loved the outdoor kitchen, the crazy long and steep jungle driveway/treetunnel and the way you could feel the jungle come alive (birds geckos millepeeds praying mantis etc). Vika and Mike were very nice and we even had a fresh fruit basket and a bag of the coffee, both grown on site, waiting for us. Mahalo to M&V and check it out!"

  • Perfect spot for a family getaway

"This house was perfect in every way, making our family holiday a great success. We enjoyed all our meals on the spacious lanai, slept well in the comfortable beds with tropical breezes blowing through the windows (no need for air conditioning), and fully enjoyed all the nearby spots for snorkelling and wandering. The location is great - accessible from the airport and also easy driving distances to other attractions like Volcanoes National Park, the green sand beach, Keauhou (for Manta Ray night snorkel) and downtown Kona-Kailua. We would highly recommend this rental house, especially for family groups (lots of room, well set-up both inside and out) ... thanks for a lovely holiday!"
