  • Fantastic again

"The best place on the Big Island. We have been coming every year for the last 5 years. This magnificent town home/condo/house is ideal. Norm and Kara provide all you need and Charlie is close by if needed. I could go on and on, but bottom line, it is the best!! See other comments that say it all."

  • Quiet Retreat Close to Kona

"We had the pleasure of staying in 3602 for 8 nights. It was very comfortable for our family of 4. We found the condo to be very nice with high quality furnishings and decorations. Upon arrival it was spotless. A nice note and a small welcome gift greeted us when we walked in. We felt very welcomed. They turned the A/C on so it was so relaxing when walking in! The bathrooms where super nice! A/C was wonderful. The kitchen is well stocked. Parking is free. The community is quiet and very well kept. 3602 sits right up off a secluded cove and has a beautiful view of the ocean. There are no structures between you and the water. We enjoyed sitting on the lanai taking in the view. A path near the neighborhood takes you down to the cove which is nice for snorkeling. Each of the 3 pools are nice! The location of the condo is great! It's a three minute drive to a little plaza that has great food such as pizza, sushi, steak, Mexican and coffee. It's a five minute drive to a wonderful snorkeling beach, Kahaluu Beach Park, where we saw turtles. Five more minutes down beautiful Ali'i Drive and you're in Kona! We love Kona! It reminds us of Lahaina. This was our first trip to the Big Island and we loved it. We've been to Maui twice. We put 1,000 miles on our rental car exploring the island. We recommend Ride the Rim ATV tour and Poke a Stick lava tour. We enjoyed Quinns Almost by the Sea and Scandinavian Shave Ice in Kona and the Coffee Shack up on Mamalahoa Hwy. Bianellis Pizza in the plaza by the condo has very good pizza. Peaberry & Galette Coffee in the same plaza was a first stop every morning. They make crepes too! We were not as impressed with Bongo Bens or Lava Java in Kona. Lonna made the whole experience super easy. We couldn't ask for a nicer place to stay! We look forward to returning- hopefully for a month next time!!"

  • Great Location and great amenities

"Just got back from two fantastic weeks at Mele Kai @ Kahalu’u Beach. Two years ago we stayed at the property next door, Hale O Makai, also owned by Simmy and Michael with a smaller party of five. This year we needed more space to accommodate 6 adults and 3 children under 4 and were lucky enough to rent Mele Kai. Not only are all the pictures and descriptions spot on, Simmy and Michael are wonderful to work with and truly go above and beyond to make your stay unforgettable. If you don’t see something that you can’t live without, mention it to Simmy and she has always been able to accommodate. Lots of equipment for beach going including boogie boards, coolers, umbrellas, and currently beach chairs with shoulder straps so you can really load up for the day. There were toys galore for the little ones for both land and water. The wading pool shared by the two houses was really appreciated in the heat of July to cool down. The lanai is the highlight of the house and she has a little child gate to close one end so the kids didn’t get away from us. I know the nearby amenities are listed with the house amenities, but I want to push them all anyway since they are just as important as the house. There is shoreline access almost directly across from the house with a tiny sand area and, depending on tides and experience, you can get in the water there, but it is a rock entrance. The sandy beach park is 4 minutes walk away…or 7 if you meander looking at the flowers and great water views between the houses on the way. Kahalu’u is a great beach park with multiple water entrances and depending on the tides a nice little pool forms below one of the lifeguard stands, great for sitting and playing with little ones in the water while gentle waves wash through occasionally. There was also a food truck with snacks and the all important SHAVE ICE! Turtle viewing from above and below water is almost guaranteed. When I was coordinating this trip with multiple families I used Google Earth to show them distances and where the sand was. This location and rental was exactly what our large family needed with plenty of private/quite areas for those needing naps or less family time! Already repeat customers and Simmy will be the first person we contact on our next trip."
