  • A little piece of paradise

"We spent the last 3 weeks during the ironman championship in Kona and had the privilege to call the beautiful condo of Tom our home. The place is very well kept, in excellent conditions and equiped with everything you need to feel at home. When you sit on the balcony you can sit back, enjoy the spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean, watch the dolphins play or follow the sunset in the most spectacular colors. We can only say the very best about this condo and recommend it to anyone who wants to spent relaxed days on the big island. The location is perfect since all necessary shopping needs are in walking distance. It is close to the action in Kona but also remote enough to escape the traffic and noise when you want to. We definitely looking forward to come back if we decide to again take the hassle to travel to the opposite side of the globe."

  • Perfect condo in the perfect location

"We just completed our 12-day vacation at Keauhou Kona Surf & Racquet Club unit 196 and cannot say enough positive things about the complex and the unit. We chose Unit 196 because it was oceanfront and very close to the little "beach" cove for the complex. From our unit we could see tropical fish and turtles in the ocean, views of Big island and Maui (if it was really clear), and gorgeous sunsets. Our family loved having quick and easy access to the little cove for amazing tide pool explorations and wading for our younger kids. Reasonably good swimmers can also snorkel from the cove, which was mostly empty and therefore had incredible sea life. After walking around the complex we noted that many of the units do not have easy access to this cove, which makes this townhouse especially compelling. The unit itself was spacious, with a very well-stocked kitchen, linens, beach toys, and thoughtful touches like Kona coffee and Maui Cookies, upon arrival. Unlike many vacation condos, you don't have to buy every last item for your stay - Sandy and Jeri provide you with items such as trash bags, paper towels, cooking spices, oils, condiments, etc. We also greatly appreciated the large floor fans in the afternoon heat. The complex is large and well maintained, and we enjoyed the many BBQs, pool, tennis courts, volleyball court, and clubhouse. If you have very young kids, the pool has a large section that is 1-foot deep, perfect for toddlers. Jeri, the on-island property coordinator, is an amazing wealth of island information and extremely friendly and helpful. Keauhou Kona Surf and Racquet Club is about a 3-minute drive (5-minute bike and 7-minute walk) to the best snorkeling cove in Kona. If you take the oceanfront road, it will take about 10 minutes to reach the hustle and bustle of "downtown" Kona. The shopping center is 1-block away with a grocery store, drug store, restaurants, post office, movie theater, coffee place, gas station, and the necessities you need absent an ABC store! About 7-minutes up the hill you will be in the cooler climate of coffee plantations. We appreciated being just outside the super touristy section but still central to the areas we wanted to visit. Our family agreed that our next visit to the Big Island we will return to Unit 196. We cannot speak highly enough of Sandy (the owner) and Jeri (the on-island coordinator), both of whom were a pleasure to work with. Aloha!"

  • Wonderfully comfortable and relaxing, gorgeous views and great amenities

"We would go back in a heartbeat, and definitely try to book this unit again. Yes it is a 3-floor walk-up, and there is no air conditioning, but with plenty of fans, sliding screen doors, an expansive wrap-around lanai for outdoor dining, watching sunsets and breaking waves, it's hard to picture a nicer spot. We only closed the glass sliders one evening when a tropical storm blew by. This an end unit with south and west exposure, really great views from third floor level. Third floor gives you the most privacy also. Being on the top floor, this unit had great high sloping ceilings which added significantly to the feeling of openness. There are two bedrooms, two bathrooms, washer/dryer, a perfectly adequate kitchen with all the standard expected appliances, and the refrigerator has a dynamite ice maker and there are lots of cold packs in the freezer. Good size combined dining and living room, but my wife and I took all our meals out to the dining table on the lanai. Main bedroom area has a king bed, view of the ocean and there are sliding shoji screens that can be closed to provide privacy from the living/dining area if so desired. This bed was very comfortable. Second bedroom has a queen size bed and the windows in this room face the mountains. There are plenty of closets, lots of hangers, beach toys like noodles, coolers for packing lunches for day trips, plenty of beach towels, bath linens, etc. Although we only used the TV to check storm forecasts the instructions were easy to understand and lots of channels available. Also CD player in the unit and wi-fi in the complex. It seemed plenty fast for the business correspondence I occasionally needed to do with my morning coffee. I brought binoculars but owner also has two pair in the unit. The KKSRC has three really nice tennis courts and a large pool which is about to undergo some refurbishment. We spent time there every day and it was delightful. The grounds are very well tended and the landscaping is quite mature and lovely. To give the condo buildings and the townhouses some additional privacy there is no long continuous walk along the water edge or rather the 20'+ high, broken lava cliff edge. You can walk along a couple of the buildings and then the paths end either in broken lava scree or dense low barrier hedges which you don't want to try to walk through. Being an older resort (35+ years) it was built quite close to the ocean edge which makes for a delightful and picturesque setting."

"We loved this condo! It was quiet (except for the sound of the beautiful ocean surf) and private. I loved the floor to ceiling glass that opened up onto the lanai on both the west and south side giving you incredible views and maximum advantage of the trade winds. We watched a humpback whale swim by and had a front row seat to the incredible sunset! This condo was very centrally located with a convenient shopping centre very close by. There were 4 of us that stayed in this condo and there was plenty of room for everyone. The owners where very quick to reply and accommodating. The condo was equipped with everything we needed including coolers, beach chairs, boogie boards and an umbrella for the beach. I would recommend this condo without hesitation."
