  • Great condo!!

"This condo exceeded all of our expectations. The condo was even nicer than the pictures. We have two adults and two teenagers and we the condo provided plenty of space. The view was amazing! The kitchen is well stocked and the owners provided very detailed information regarding activities/restaurants near by the condo. The condo is centrally located. The condo was clean and well stocked."

  • Great centrally located property. Close enough to points of interest but yet a quiet neighborhood.

"We stayed at Calypso for 4 nights earlier this month. It's located in a quiet neighborhood but yet it's centrally located allowing us to do many activities throughout the day. The chairs and tables on the lanai are convenient for an early breakfast before starting out on the day's adventures. We loved the walk along the ocean with the lava rocks framing the view. I would highly recommend this condo to others visiting the Big Island. Some of the activities I'd recommend are snorkeling with the manta rays at night with Jacks Dive Locker, staying in the Volcano National Park until dusk to see the lava glow, and ziplining over Akaka Falls on the Hilo side of the island. The Greenwell coffee farm was also an interesting way to learn how coffee is grown and harvested (it's also free and just about 15 minutes from the condo)!"

  • Wonderfully comfortable and relaxing, gorgeous views and great amenities

"We would go back in a heartbeat, and definitely try to book this unit again. Yes it is a 3-floor walk-up, and there is no air conditioning, but with plenty of fans, sliding screen doors, an expansive wrap-around lanai for outdoor dining, watching sunsets and breaking waves, it's hard to picture a nicer spot. We only closed the glass sliders one evening when a tropical storm blew by. This an end unit with south and west exposure, really great views from third floor level. Third floor gives you the most privacy also. Being on the top floor, this unit had great high sloping ceilings which added significantly to the feeling of openness. There are two bedrooms, two bathrooms, washer/dryer, a perfectly adequate kitchen with all the standard expected appliances, and the refrigerator has a dynamite ice maker and there are lots of cold packs in the freezer. Good size combined dining and living room, but my wife and I took all our meals out to the dining table on the lanai. Main bedroom area has a king bed, view of the ocean and there are sliding shoji screens that can be closed to provide privacy from the living/dining area if so desired. This bed was very comfortable. Second bedroom has a queen size bed and the windows in this room face the mountains. There are plenty of closets, lots of hangers, beach toys like noodles, coolers for packing lunches for day trips, plenty of beach towels, bath linens, etc. Although we only used the TV to check storm forecasts the instructions were easy to understand and lots of channels available. Also CD player in the unit and wi-fi in the complex. It seemed plenty fast for the business correspondence I occasionally needed to do with my morning coffee. I brought binoculars but owner also has two pair in the unit. The KKSRC has three really nice tennis courts and a large pool which is about to undergo some refurbishment. We spent time there every day and it was delightful. The grounds are very well tended and the landscaping is quite mature and lovely. To give the condo buildings and the townhouses some additional privacy there is no long continuous walk along the water edge or rather the 20'+ high, broken lava cliff edge. You can walk along a couple of the buildings and then the paths end either in broken lava scree or dense low barrier hedges which you don't want to try to walk through. Being an older resort (35+ years) it was built quite close to the ocean edge which makes for a delightful and picturesque setting."

  • Well Equipped Condo with a great location

"The Condo: Excellent layout as described. Not all condos at the Keauhou Surf and Racquet Club (KSRC) were created equal. This one has a large loft upstairs with a partition which almost creates another bedroom. The upstairs loft has a bathroom which you may not find at other KSRC 3rd floor condos. Although there's no view of the ocean, it is a short walk within the complex to the shore. The balcony has a peaceful view of the garden with many birds and mongooses to watch. Since we ate in most of the time, we appreciated the well equipped kitchen along with ice chests for outings. Additionally, there are some board games, boogie boards, snorkels, beach towels, beach chairs and fishing tackle for guests to use. Since it is on the 3rd floor, it may be difficult for people with limited mobility as there is no elevator. In our party, one person uses a cane but he felt the stairs had adequate railing to help support him going up and down the stairs. The perfect location: We love to snorkel and the condo is situated in a great location for it. Kahaluu Beach (0.5 mi) is great for seeing turtles and lots of fish. 30 mins to the south is 2-Step (Honounau) or Captain Cook Monument which are both great for seeing wildlife. We saw spinner dolphins at Captain Cook where we rented Kayaks. The condo is also 30 mins away from Kohala area beaches and our favorite, the Mauna Kea Beach. Nearby there is a small bay and harbor where you can rent Stand up Paddleboards, Kayaks and go out with the Keauhou Outrigger Club. If agri-tourism is your thing, you can visit a chocolate farm, coffee plantation, or a honey bee farm nearby. There is a very convenient shopping center just down the road that has a Longs, Grocery Store, Cinema and Restaurants. The complex: The KSRC complex has access to a small beach area that is almost private. Most of the shoreline near the condos are lava rock but the area at the end near the townhouses has the access to the small sand beach. This is nice for small children. There are tennis courts and a pool...both we did not use but looked nice. There are propane BBQs all over the complex but the condo is close to the large pavilion in the center that has 2 BBQs. Why we chose this condo: The location was the primary reason as we like the KSRC. This condo was updated with very nice amenities and the owner quickly answered all our questions. We felt it was a real value and had everything we needed."
