  • Almost Perfect

"We enjoyed to stay in the apartment #195 for one week. Everything was like advertised. Especially the direct ocean front location was very nice and we've enjoyed to have breakfast and dinner on the lanai. The kitchen is well equipped and using the public BBQ was great. The two reasons for the 4-star rating are the following: (1) As mentioned by others, the mattress is worn out and needed an improvement. (2) even so, everything is very clean, there are the tinny insects in the kitchen and in the bath downstairs. which was a bit disturbing."

  • Great Location and great amenities

"Just got back from two fantastic weeks at Mele Kai @ Kahalu’u Beach. Two years ago we stayed at the property next door, Hale O Makai, also owned by Simmy and Michael with a smaller party of five. This year we needed more space to accommodate 6 adults and 3 children under 4 and were lucky enough to rent Mele Kai. Not only are all the pictures and descriptions spot on, Simmy and Michael are wonderful to work with and truly go above and beyond to make your stay unforgettable. If you don’t see something that you can’t live without, mention it to Simmy and she has always been able to accommodate. Lots of equipment for beach going including boogie boards, coolers, umbrellas, and currently beach chairs with shoulder straps so you can really load up for the day. There were toys galore for the little ones for both land and water. The wading pool shared by the two houses was really appreciated in the heat of July to cool down. The lanai is the highlight of the house and she has a little child gate to close one end so the kids didn’t get away from us. I know the nearby amenities are listed with the house amenities, but I want to push them all anyway since they are just as important as the house. There is shoreline access almost directly across from the house with a tiny sand area and, depending on tides and experience, you can get in the water there, but it is a rock entrance. The sandy beach park is 4 minutes walk away…or 7 if you meander looking at the flowers and great water views between the houses on the way. Kahalu’u is a great beach park with multiple water entrances and depending on the tides a nice little pool forms below one of the lifeguard stands, great for sitting and playing with little ones in the water while gentle waves wash through occasionally. There was also a food truck with snacks and the all important SHAVE ICE! Turtle viewing from above and below water is almost guaranteed. When I was coordinating this trip with multiple families I used Google Earth to show them distances and where the sand was. This location and rental was exactly what our large family needed with plenty of private/quite areas for those needing naps or less family time! Already repeat customers and Simmy will be the first person we contact on our next trip."

  • A little piece of paradise

"We spent the last 3 weeks during the ironman championship in Kona and had the privilege to call the beautiful condo of Tom our home. The place is very well kept, in excellent conditions and equiped with everything you need to feel at home. When you sit on the balcony you can sit back, enjoy the spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean, watch the dolphins play or follow the sunset in the most spectacular colors. We can only say the very best about this condo and recommend it to anyone who wants to spent relaxed days on the big island. The location is perfect since all necessary shopping needs are in walking distance. It is close to the action in Kona but also remote enough to escape the traffic and noise when you want to. We definitely looking forward to come back if we decide to again take the hassle to travel to the opposite side of the globe."

  • Wonderful and Relaxing Soothing Ocean sounds made for excellent sleep!

"My husband, son and I just spent a wonderful and relaxing week in this beautiful condo. It is very conveniently located just south of Kona, very quiet and peaceful area right on the ocean! The grounds and pool were very well kept with flowers everywhere and everyone was very nice. It's a 10 minute walk to Kahaluu Beach where we were able to snorkel and see turtles, there is also a shave ice food truck there most of the time. We saw a school of dolphin and from the lanai one morning which was impressive, they were jumping and twirling and putting on quite a show! The sunsets are amazing! If you like the sound of the ocean to put you to sleep, just leave the lanai sliders open and it's wonderful! Everything you could possibly need is provided in the condo and it's very clean and nicely decorated. There is a great Saturday farmers market right up the hill at the Keauhou Shopping Center. We did the moonlight Manta Ray snorkel which was just incredible! Good restaurants close by too. This was really a wonderful place and I'd love to visit again someday! You probably do need a car to get here, but if you don't mind a little walking you don't necessarily need one when you are here. It might be a little quiet for teenagers."
