  • Beautiful Retreat From The Crowds

"It is never hard to find large masses of people enjoying all of the amazing sights and sounds of Hawaii. What can be difficult is being able to find peace and quiet after a day of touristing about. This rental was perfect for doing just that. If your idea of a vacation is to relax and enjoy awesome views, possess a beautiful private pool, and have all of the modern conveniences still at hand then this home can't be beat. Being able to hike down to a beach that you can pretend is all your own whenever you wish is a huge bonus that I don't know you can find in too many other places in Hawaii. I feel a certain independence of spirit is required for staying here as the owner lives off-site and the caretaker is invisible if you don't need him. My wife and I needed some time to ourselves and I can safely say we had that in droves. There are better places to stay if you need continual stimuli (there is full internet and tv here if you need it) but if you love laying in bed listening to not much at all or having breakfast outside while gazing over the ocean at infinity then you have found your place. Everything was clean, orderly and looking like the home we should all have. We left here not only having seen what we wanted to see but also very rested and really not wanting to leave. Perfect."

  • What a beautiful house and tranquil location!

"Our family of 3 stayed here for 9 days in February and the accommodations were perfect. The house is spectacular. I can just repeat the comments below like 'the well equipped kitchen has everything you need to make gourmet meals' but will just say you will not be disappointed in any way. The view of the ocean from the lanai will blow you away! Get back before the sun sets and you will be in for an incredible view. The road to the house from highway 11 was indeed a curvy couple of miles but it became part of our excellent adventure for our first trip to the Big Island. It's a nice location point for most of the locations you WILL want to see. Thank you Naomi and Paul for sharing your wonderful place with us! PS: I was going to email you on our last day to say we were not going to leave and you would have to personally have to drag us out :) Hard to leave but all good things have to come to an end."

  • Loved spring break at the cove

"We felt like we knew what to expect from the pictures and the other reviews, but I have to say the experience, the house and the view were even better than we expected. The view from the infinity pool was amazing and we loved the hot tub. We were there to witness spectacular sunsets on 5 of 7 nights. We slept to the sound of waves crashing on the rocks every night. The frontage down to the ocean is a little steep and rocky, but it was no problem for me and my family (2 teenage boys - 14 and 16). The seas were calm enough a few days for us to hop in and snorkel in the cove. There was a sea turtle and a variety of colorful tangs, wrasses and huge parrot fish hanging out there. I'd guess its 15-20 feet deep as soon as you jump in. A couple of rock structures made a ledge for a decent way out of the water. You have to use common sense though, there were a couple days the seas were way too rough. Safety first! The location of the house was a nice compromise for us since we wanted to visit the green sand beach and the volcano & lava tube on the south and south east part of the island as well as hit some of the attractions in Kona. I believe the nearest store was about 25 minutes south, while Walmart and other shopping was about a 50 minutes north. Plan your shopping and stock the fridge and cupboards. The house has everything you need to cook or barbecue on the Weber, there was even a strainer to make spaghetti or Mac n Cheese. We packed light, all carry-on, due to the full laundry available there. The house really had everything we needed. Fantastic place. Highly recommended!"

  • An enjoyable, relaxing, and positive experience

"We were overall very pleased with the property. We have not always been so lucky, that is why I have no trouble writing a review of Dave and Beth's Hawaiian Hideaway! If it is important to you (as it is to me), the property is very clean and well stocked. I was surprised at all the details Beth has added to it, including helpful things, like chairs for the beach, ponchos for an afternoon rain, bandaids and other provisions for cuts, a thoughtful small library of interesting books and DVDs. We love to cook, and we managed to do quite a bit with the one burner and the BBQ outside, and the toaster oven. I looked forward to the delicious coffee from the french press each morning, and the peacefulness of the surroundings. My favorite time was at night when we went to sleep listening to the frogs and birds. I don't think I have ever slept so peacefully! I also want to mention that the property is a close drive to amazing snorkeling, and we enjoyed that pursuit each morning. We also had fun with the paddle boards. Next time we will try the kayaks! Most important, the owners, Dave and Beth, are friendly, helpful, and very easy to talk to. We really appreciated their hospitality and welcoming vibe. This is a place we would like to visit again. We already have very fond memories of our stay there. Thank you Beth and Dave!"
