  • Our favorite place in Hawaii!

"This was our 3rd time we have had the pleasure of staying at the Beautiful Makalani Oceanview Cottage. It is the perfect cottage for the couple that wants to get away from the busy beach condos in Kona. Harry has tastfully decorated the cottage in beautiful Bali style wood, beautiful vased flowers, wood roses and the mosquito net surrounding the bed( very confortable) has a feel of old time Hawaii. The cottage is completly furnished, the view is incredible and totally private. The cottage is also surrounded by every Hawaiian flower you have ever heard of and Harry planted all of them. The "Mango Hut", which is separate from the main cottage is surrounded by Hindu statues and over looks the bay. I spent every night with a glass a wine meditating in the silence there. It feels very spiritual and I need that when I'm on vacation. Harry has every type of equipment you need for playing in the waves and snorkling. He is also very genereous about telling you of incredible beaches that you can hike into. A wonderful man indeed! We would not think of staying anywhere else on the Big Island. Enjoy!!"

  • Amazing house

"We arrived to the house late at night when it was dark and we couldn't see a lot of a surroundings. I knew that the house is close to the beach and we could hear waves. But when I woke up next morning and stepped out to the living room, I was absolutely stunned. The house has a huge windows overlooking lanai and backyard, almost glass wall. I just stood there and couldn't believe my eyes. You practically have ocean in your backyard! The beach is almost private. There were more people there during weekend (and by more I mean 4-5 families), but during the week there were days when we were only people on the beach. Other reviewers mentioned that the house is bigger then it appears on the photos and it's absolutely true. The living room is spacious, has a big dining table and enough sitting options for the whole family if you want to relax inside. The lanai is big and has couple of dining tables and outdoor chairs to enjoy outdoor meals and glass of wine at sunsets (which, BTW, are absolutely amazing there). Kitchen is equipped with everything you might need. There is outdoor grill. There is snorkeling equipment and kayaks in the house. I highly recommend kayaking. The view from the sea is stunning too. The house is very clean and well kept. Owners, Chris and Tess, are always available , very accommodating and try really hard to solve any probleNadya M.m that might arise. We had a great time at the house and I'd love to come back and stay there again."

  • Relaxing and Peaceful place in paradise

"We absolutely loved our stay at Brad & Linda's peaceful retreat. We were in the Honu cottage. The cottage is fully equipped. The bed was super comfortable and the view from the lanai was spectacular. The outdoor bath tub was awesome :) Their home grown kona coffee was the best and plenty of fresh fruit on the property that you can pick daily. Brad was a great host. He offered suggestions and guidance when we arrived. We highly recommend this wonderful location and we would come back in the future! Mahalo,"

  • Fantastic stay at Makai Hideaway

"View was priceless and breath-taking, certainly a once-in-a-lifetime sight to see. The 3 bedrooms and the gameroom exceed my expectations. My kids and I had a lot of fun with the ping pong table and the miniature pool table. I was able to relax inside and outside the house while watching the ocean and the incredible view of the volcano. The swimming hole was great on sunny days, probably the best snorkeling on the island by the way. The manager was funny and was really nice, while being helpful at the same time. There was even four kayaks, but we didn't have time to use them. It is very well kept and even has papayas growing, as well as pineapples. The art on the wall was impressive too, the manager told me that one of these boards were made by Eddie Aikau! Overall the stay was fantastic and we will definitely return in the nearby future."
