  • I didn't want to leave!

"The photos are an exact depiction of the house and property - and yet the reality is SO much better! This is a perfect house in a perfect location! We loved the Geckos - indoors and out (not so much the other critters - but, hey, it's Hawaii!) We fed the birds, watched the mongoose and heard the goats (we especially loved the baby goat). After an early morning snorkel at Two-Step, we would have breakfast and coffee on the lanai and watch the boats and kayaks over at the Captain Cook monument in the bay. The house description is clear that there is no air-conditioning. It's been our experience that most vacation rentals where we have stayed in Hawaii do not. However, Mary and Bob have provided fans for those nights when the breeze is not sufficient to cool the house. We left the windows open and woke up to the birds and ocean sounds in the morning (having turned off the fans in the night). This rental also includes everything you could ever need in the kitchen and plenty of items that are handy for snorkeling or laying on the beach. We rented snorkel gear from Snorkel Bob's, but used the water shoes and beach towels from the house. The location is rural and yet reasonably close to Kailua-Kona. We've rented a house or condo in Hawaii 6 or 7 times in the last 10 years and this has been our best VRBO experience! I highly recommend this rental!!"

  • Amazing, Quiet Experience

"We found Jon's little studio/cottage to be exactly as described. It was an exceptional way to be right on the ocean without having to be in the middle of the tourist scene. The cottage was clean and comfortable and the amenities were just right. We were able to enjoy wonderful sunset dinners each night on the extended patio and breakfasts watching for whales. Jon was fantastic. Following a rainstorm that knocked out power to the entire area he made sure that we had everything we needed. (We did.) Regrettably, we didn't use the kayaks-next trip we will! I will say that if you are looking for a beach with easy access to more tourist-type fare, this is not the place for you. But if you are looking for an experience that lets enjoy the surroundings and the water, this place is an absolute must. We will be back for a longer stay th next time. 😀򐀼󝌴"

  • Wonderful!!!

"We had a great stay. Dave was very helpful. We made juice every morning from fruit trees right in our backyard. We loved all the fresh air and sounds at night. The sheets smelled so fresh and clean and very comfortable. Decorated so cute. Easy drive to great snorkeling and lots of history all around. Thanks Dave and Beth!"
