  • Lovely Condo

"My husband I and recently spent ten days in AJ's Condo at the Waikaloa Village. We were greeted with a welcoming supply of coffee, bottled water and energy bars! The condo is clean and homey and the view from the lanai is a lovely combination of golf course and distant ocean. Sunsets are an event not to be missed. AJ advertises the condo as a one bedroom, but the loft bedroom is a full bedroom/bathroom that most condo owners advertise as their second bedroom. The Waikaloa Village is a quaint town 6 miles from the ocean. In multiple visits, we've found it to be less humid than the coast and cooler at night for comfortable sleeping without air conditioning. It is an easy drive to one of the world's greatest beaches, Hapuna as well as multiple golf courses. This condo is a great value, not fancy, but clean and decent....did I mention the lovely lanai?? AJ was easy to work with and helped make our visit a success. I would love to come back."

  • Comfortable, convenient oceanside gem

"Kona Makai is a comfortable, convenient, oceanside gem with absolutely beautiful grounds. It is obvious the complex takes great pride and care in the setting - lush green grass and plants; colorful flowers; clean parking, pool, grills and common areas. There is a very nice covered eating area with exercise equipment, ping pong tables, and a tucked-away library for beach reading. The evening sunset is an EVENT at Kona Makai, and provides an opportunity for residents and guests to gather oceanside to watch the waves, enjoy the sunset, and spend some time visiting. While the complex is right off Ali'i Drive, road and environment noise is not an issue. The condo, while small, is nicely equipped with all you need to make your stay in Kona easy and stress-free. Bedroom has plenty of storage for your visit, and the bath is nicely equipped (the tile work is really lovely). Lots of extras: plenty of towels in bath and kitchen (and good beach towels, not flimsy ones); beach toys for those who would like those (chairs and umbrella); dishes, glasses, and utensils are plentiful. Maria made the booking process easy - responsive, understanding, personable, and honest."

  • True ocean view/oceanfront condo

"We spent the first half of our stay on the Big Island at this condo, and feel extremely fortunate that we did! The condo is very comfortable, and spacious. It has many details that other accommodations may not include, like a laundry basket in every bedroom closet (we have four kids, so details like that matter), beach equipment, like umbrellas, coolers, water shoes, etc. (Things you probably can't bring along from the mainland). The bathrooms were large and had soap, shampoo and conditioner provided. The showers were very high quality. We never ran out of hot water. The very best part of this outstanding condo though, was the lanai. We sat every morning with coffee and watched the ocean roll in, boats go by, paddle boarders paddle by, etc. It was hard to leave at the end of our stay. One last note is that the location is perfect. We went to Hapuna Beach on two different days, and it was an easy drive. Also, went to a luau at the Sheraton, which is about 5 minutes drive away. Snorkeling cruise was about 2 minutes away. There's a little strip mall with restaurants, Long's Drug, grocery store, book store, etc. 5 minutes away. If we go back to the Big Island, we will make every effort to return to this condo!"

  • Great downtown location in Kona

"This was a definite studio one room to stay. Loved the larger refrigerator in unit. Good location in downtown Kona for walking. The only drawback was the wifi. Had to contact owner to get help and got it the 3rd day, then I could only get wifi outside on the deck and then it went away when I went back inside the unit. I ended up going to the lobby with computer to use. Loved having laundry facilities on site and it was clean and well taken care of."
