  • WOW!!!

"Over the years, we’ve been blessed to have the opportunity to stay in some lovely villas during our travels, but I must say that the sight that met us when we first opened the stained-glass front door of Maka Nui nearly took our breath away. It is an exceptionally lovely home – with ornate furnishings and exquisite artwork, a fabulous Jacuzzi tub, a huge double shower, a well-appointed kitchen, and a wonderfully comfy king-size bed. The beautiful, rambling interior is surrounded by a screened-in lanai that looks out across the green hillside down onto Kealakekua Bay. We so enjoyed our evenings on the lanai reading – a delightful cool breeze blowing up from the sea, the faint song of the coqui competing with the Hawaiian music we had softly playing in the background. The grounds are gorgeous: acres of coffee trees, fruit trees, and fragrant flowers, with a much-appreciated impeccably-maintained swimming pool next to the house. Candi was such a gracious, considerate host, and welcomed us with a lovely basket of fruit, coffee, and chocolate macadamias. She is such a delightful, friendly soul – immediately there if we needed something or had a question, but otherwise completely respected our privacy. We loved this part of the island – so very lush and tropical. Maka Nui is very private, very quiet, and very safe. Located down from the Captain Cook area, on Napo’opo’o road, it is off the beaten path, yet not very far from good beaches, good snorkeling, shopping, sightseeing, etc. We SO enjoyed our stay there!"

  • Fantastic vacation getaway!

"We had a wonderful stay at this centrally-located and well-appointed condo with a million-dollar view! This is indeed the best unit in the Kona Reef complex, a corner unit (overlooking the beach next door) on the top floor. Centrally-located in Kona, we were able to easily walk to restaurants, shops and the pier. The complex pool is oceanside and a great place to relax after a hot day hiking or exploring Volcano National Park. The condo itself is perfectly appointed, with everything we could have needed to make our stay on the island more enjoyable - snorkling gear, boogie boards, beach chairs and umbrellas, and even a rolling cooler. The air conditioning is top notch, and every room - even the lanai - has a ceiling fan. Comfortable beds, a well-stocked kitchen, and two full bathrooms made us feel like we were right at home. And owners Jim and Nancy could not have been more helpful, offering lots of tips on their favorite activities, beaches, restaurants, shops, and trivia about local residents. We hope to come back to this wonderful place soon!"

  • Great "Base Camp" with a view!

"Wonderful condo close to the town of Kona. We stayed at the condo for 5 nights (April 14 -19, 2016). We walked to dinner every night. Great snorkeling spots pretty close by (you have to drive). Just south is Kahalu'u Beach Park (about 5 miles south of the condo). Way further down on route 160 is Two Step Beach (Honaunau Bay). We ate at Humpy's, On the Rocks, Lava Rock and Splashers Grill. Great sunsets at On the Rocks and Humpy's. We rented fantastic road bikes one day from Cycle Station (near Costco). Their number is 808-327-0087. Oliver was wonderful and very helpful. The road bike we did was about 18 miles on route 240. Stage out of Tex Drive-In in Honoka'a and head to Waipi'o Valley Overlook. The valley and views are spectacular! One day we drove north to Hapuna Beach State Park. Big beautiful sandy beach but the afternoon wind was horrendous and the waves were huge. Go early in the morning and if it is calm, they say it is great for snorkeling (bring boogie boards too just in case)!!! The condo had everything we needed, and was very comfortable. Nice view of the water and the pool from the lanai. Thanks so much. PS: Before going on vaca, buy the book Hawaii The Big Island Revealed by Andrew Doughty (7th edition). It is truly a fantastic guide book."

  • Great Super Clean Condo

"A home away from home! Had everything we needed plus some. We enjoyed White Sands Beach across the street and all of the amenities of the condo complex including the pool, spa and tennis courts. Our family of four spent two weeks in this condo. Upon first entering the condo, we felt welcomed with a fruit basket and chocolates! We were also amazed at the great ocean views from the lanai. This condo was a great fit for us and our two teenagers - who appreciated the condo's boogie boards! The property manager, Wanee, was a pleasure to work with and even left a message on our first day making sure that everything was OK. I recommend this condo for anyone looking for a large, clean condo."
