  • Everything we expected and MORE!!!!

"If you have been afraid to book a place on line, rest assured that this property undersells itself and over delivers! We were at this little piece of the Big Islands for 11 days, and enjoyed every minute at the cottage. Candi is a great host, who is helpful in everyway possible. From the welcoming basket of fruit, cookies, candies, to milk and juice in the fridge, Candi is the kind of host that you will enjoy. She is available for information to make your stay enjoyable, or just a wave as she drives by to say good morning. The cottage is well equipped in the kitchen, lots of beach towels, chairs, umbrellas, masks and snorkels. Oh, and the cottage is very clean. This is a place you can pack light. The washer and dryer is close at hand. We will defiantly be back, and in the meantime we will make sure our friends know. Great job on making our vacation memorable Candi. Janice and Elliott"

  • Aloha!

"Where does one begin? The setting, the home, the attention to details, the immaculate condition, the super-generous hosts, the weather, the proximity to beaches..? This place is heaven on earth and Kulalani2006 is your way to experience it. Be warned, you will have serious holiday blues when you leave! We woke up to beautiful birdsong daily, it was simply delightful. The unit is located in a well manicured gated community. There are great amenities, like swimming pools/fitness club, etc and #2006 is perfectly situated for easy access to those. The beautiful beaches of the Kohala coast are a short drive away. We spent long days at the Beach club, again, you get access because of Kulalani and we had a very memorable day at the Hapuna Beach. We also drove upto Mauna Kea to see the night sky, but the viewing was really quite good even from their doorstep. We were able to visit Akaka falls/Hilo/Waimea and return home to a very relaxing space. Nina & Richard have filled their immaculate home with everything you would need for a holiday. The kitchen is fully equipped and is so well organized. One can whip up a gourmet meal, but why bother, while on holiday? We used it mainly for breakfast and to warm up meals or baby bottles. Even though Kulalani is a townhome, we never heard our neighbours, did not see too many people and had lots of privacy and quiet. This is hands down the best place we've ever stayed in and we hope to be back. Mahalo to Nina & Richard!"

  • Great house for families/groups in great location

"Great property, highly recommended for families. HOUSE: Call it 4 and a half rather than 5 bedrooms, one bedroom is a small room within the master suite. But for a family with a small child that can be a really good thing, having a little one close to parents for those nighttime wakeups but still with the all-important door in between. Kitchen is well stocked, and they keep around the various condiments (salt, pepper, cooking oil, no-stick spray) that people buy so you don't end up buying a huge container of something you hardly use. Pool is perfect, not heated but that's really unnecessary in the climate as the water warms up in the sun and was pretty much always ideal temperature for a cool dip. Also there is a bench/shelf running the length of the pool that is ideal for smaller children to walk and play in the water without being totally submerged, then the rest of the pool is deep enough for jumping in. There's a hot tub that we never used because it was just too warm out to want to be in the hot tub. Lots of snorkel supplies, and kids stuff including flotation devices for pool/beach and sand play items for the beach. Also a couple of older strollers that work perfectly well. No air conditioning in the house, but for the most part with the windows open and the fans on the bedrooms are fine at night. The downstairs bedroom gets afternoon sun and is probably the only room in the house that really suffers from a lack of air conditioning. Back yard a little buggy at night, but loads of bug spray provided and with the bugs you get tons of geckos and chameleons that the kids loved. LOCATION: Good location near Magic Sands beach. 15 min drive from central Kailua-Kona town. There was actually some extremely high surf when we were there, resulting in closures of some local beaches, and we did get to see the true "Magic Sands" phenomenon with all the sand washed off the beach a couple of days. But in even moderately high surf there is a protected area of beach at Magic Sands that is good for little ones. When the extreme surf was up we went to Keiki Ponds beach tucked away near downtown, highly recommend. KTA supermarket was a short drive away, had everything we needed, did not even go to Costco this trip which is a rarity for us. Favorite restaurants we recommend a short drive away: Annie's Island Fresh Burgers, Ray's on the Bay at the Sheraton, Sam Choy's (mainly for the view, especially sunset), Da Poke House for lunch (assuming you like poke)."

  • Another awesome week in paradise

"My wife and I enjoyed another awesome week in paradise (Aloha Sands) The grounds, accomodations, owners and staff are simply the best. Over the last eight years we have stayed up and down the Kohala coast from small private homes to Hapuna Beach Prince and there is no better place to stay than Aloha Sands. The little bay (50 yards away) is excellent for kayaking, turtle watchers, swimming and just relaxing on the beautiful uncrowded beach. The owners and staff are as attentive as any 5 star hotel, we could not have enjoyed our stay more!"
