  • Nice cottage, location with all amenities provided!

"Aloha! Just spent more than a week here. The Beers provided everything we needed including and much appreciated: liquid soaps, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, dish and dishwasher detergent, laundry soap, cooler, bikes, beach towels, rice cooker, coffee grinder, good pots for cooking, outdoor sink and clothesline, etc. We enjoyed the cottage and location and would recommend. Property is well maintained, bright, airy with 2 ceiling fans. The lanai is great for outdoor living. Owners are attentive if anything is needed. Visit Kapoho Tide pools and Champagne Pond for great snorkeling and warm soak with sea turtles. Cajun Paradise Farms is owned by nice people and they have great food, coffee, smoothies, and home baked items as well as in season organic fruits and produce, honey and souvenirs. Lovely outdoor setting amidst gardens of rare and unusual hibiscus. Thai food is good in Pahoa and Sombat is great in Hilo. A couple beach chairs would be nice, aluminum, but we didn't need as we had much rain. Mahalo"

  • Wonderful host

"One of our friends auctioned 3 nights stay at this house at Rotary Fundraising over a year ago. Paula was very accommodating and patient with our request and communicating with her. We truly appreciate that. 1. It is easy to find. 2. Nice secluded house with great lanai to sit and enjoy coffee in the morning. 3. Close enough to town of Pahoa and even Hilo. 4. Wi Fi was great to have since we did not have coverage at that area. Just keep in mind: 1. There are stairs from parking area to house so if you have a lot or heavy luggage or bad knees, it may be an issue. And lights were not working so good idea to have flash light. (Or use phone) 2. Screen does not close tight. 3. Both bathrooms have louver door so not completely private. Main bathroom wall is partial so you can hear pretty much everything if you are in kitchen or living room. 4. No AC. Bedrooms has ceiling fan so it helps but only one floor fan in living room area and it can feel bit stuffy if you are used to AC. We walked to Champagne Pond in the morning but did not use it since we were busy going to lava boat, visiting couple of friends near by, driving to Kona and kept busy whole time. We ate at Black Rock Cafe and Kaleo's Grill in Pahoa and they are both recommended by Paula's housekeeper and pretty good. Coffee at Sirus was very good also. She had granola ball and it was really good. We loved Green Papaya salad sold at truck at Pahoa Sunday Farmer;s market. Highly recommended. During the summer, there is Bon Dance (Japanese Summer Festival) on Sat at Pahoa YBA Kaikan. They had some Japanese snack foods for sale. Some wore traditional Japanese summer kimono. It was fun dancing with kids to senior. Something different to try."

  • Magical Shangri'la!

"This place lives up to it's name. Everyone from the grandkids to us old folk loved the lagoon and its fish. The Round Room was perfect for celebrating our anniversary. And it's an excellent base for all east side activities including lava watching."

  • Lovely location in Kapoho

"Our family of four enjoyed this lovely ocean front home. It was quite roomy, the mattresses were good, and all that we needed was available. The super great location at Champagne Pond (direct access from the house), plus another pond at the house (for only those on the property) made it a perfect winter storm location in Hawaii. Even with the trades blowing and the ocean raging, the kids were able to swim each day and have a blast. A few sprinkles in late November, but temps were near 80 each day. Snorkeling was good! Sophia was super to work with and even brought a camera charger I'd left behind to me in Kona. Very restful location with amazing sunrises."
