  • The location was wonderful.

"We really enjoyed staying in this house. It is a long way to most things from this area but it feels more like Hawaii then a hotel. There are things that could be improved about the property that would be easy. First, it needs new sheets of some quality that fit the bed. The sheets appeared as old as I and did not stay on during the night. Though the kitchen was fairly well equipped it could use a decent baking sheet and coffee filters. Imagine having to drive 20 min. for your first cup of coffee. The white bath towel was permanently stained or dirty. We could not get the cable guide to update and work well. These things can easily be improved, and I am still happy I stayed there. The fish and turtles were wonderful."

  • Treasured week in Kapoho

"We, five over 70, cousins, wives, husbands and friends had a most wonderful week in Kapoho at this home.Yes, there was a few minor creature noises (frogs, birds and laughter) and a half hour to an hour of rain each day but warm followed by mostly beautiful skies. The salt water tide pools are an added attraction not to be missed (experienced) Paradise is an appropriate name for this place.................and we are already planning to return next fall. 5 Seniors"

  • Hutchinson Family Hawaii vacation 2016

"The property, house and amenities are simply terrific. The location right beside the tide pools, while a terrific asset, became quite literally a threat during the hurricane... though the kids loved every minute of the excitement! Even before we were forced to evacuate, the owner contacted us along with his property custodian and went above and beyond what one would reasonably expect for a rental unit - generally the expectation is to deal with the corporation. This proved invaluable and helped us immeasurably during the, not one, but two hurricane events. We Hutchinsons are a hardy adventurous lot and just rolled with it and made a wild weather event and flooded out home an unforgettable experience. Thanks to Mike the owner for all his help - before, during and after :) The house is lovely, filled not only with the basics, but many extras. Tide pools are simply fantastic - our two week stay on both Kauai and the Big Island revolved a great deal around snorkeling so this was a bonus. Our other big adventure was cycling down to where the molten lava spilling into the sea just around the corner. Incredible to see Kilauea gurgling just after we arrive home. Cheers and thanks"

  • Fabulous property, beautiful site - highly recommended.

"We had a marvelous 5 nights at this gorgeous property. The setting is spectacular -- it’s literally right on a collection of ponds and inlets, with kayaking and snorkeling available literally at your feet. The property itself is beautiful and in excellent condition, filled with beautiful Indonesian wood furniture, and the setting is quite private. We were two families with teen children traveling together, and we had a marvelous time sitting on the beautiful balconies staring at the ocean, snorkeling in the pond, watching the puffer fish get fed, and taking excursions to nearby tide pools, farmer’s markets, towns, as well as venturing out for zip lining, and hiking in volcano national park. We divided our Big Island stay between this property and a hotel on the Kona side, and we loved the mixture of sights and experiences, but this property definitely won the ‘specialness’ award. The kitchen was equipped for all basic cooking needs, and there’s a nice outdoor grill which we put to use. The master suite is gorgeous. There are two other bedrooms upstairs that share a bathroom, one with a queen bed and one with twins. The bathroom they share is spacious, though has only one sink. Downstairs, there’s a separate room with twins, and a fully-plumbed outdoor bathroom (quite luxurious, though not fully waterproof in the rain, and to get there requires walking 20 feet outdoors). Wifi was a little slow (for all 8 of us) but that kept us from being tethered to our devices. The property was very clean, and there were plenty of towels and an assortment of snorkeling equipment to borrow (though for our group of 8, a couple more snorkels would have been a plus). The ceiling fans kept everything cool and comfortable There’s lots to do within a 30 minute drive, but depending on what you’re looking for, it could be a little remote -- there’s not anywhere to walk to to grab a coffee or a meal. The nearest town is Pahoa, about 15 minutes away, and Hilo is about another 25-30 minutes beyond that. But it’s a fabulous base for both exploring and for relaxing and enjoying the views and the water, and it’s a truly memorable, gorgeous property. Highly recommended!"
