  • Your own private jungle with all the comforts of home!

"First of all, I can't truly express how deeply we loved this property. You do have neighbors but because of the lush plant life on the property, you hardly notice. You are exactly 1 block away from the ocean and can hear it all day and night! There is an outdoor shower that makes you never want to take an indoor shower again. You have all the amenities of home including washer and dryer which means you can pack less. There is cable but shame on you if you watch t.v. while you are on vacation. This place allows you to completely unplug. You are a 5 minute drive from a volcano steam vent warmed ocean cove that is a dream. You are a 20 minute drive from the end of hwy 137 where there is a market and entertainment every Wednesday and Friday night starting at 5pm. The locals here are so welcoming! At the same place is the shortest walk to the lava flow into the ocean, approximately 4 miles one way. You are also within walking distance from the tide pools. Shopping is either in Pahoa, 8 miles, or Hilo, 30-45 minute drive depending on traffic. When we first arrived on the island, we started out on the Kona side and the drive to the house was disappointing and I thought "wow, I could have stayed at home for this." Then we got to the Hilo side and it made up for it immediately. We are talking lush green everywhere! What adds to the beauty is the tree frogs at night with their mating calls at night. It was like music to fall asleep to and when you are out on the porch at night, it makes for a dark wonderful jungle scene. There are also geckos inside and out of the house that leave you alone but add to the wonder of this place. After a humid hot day, your nights are cooled off by the nightly rains. I did have a blonde moment and had to email Gerard but I got a response within an hour which was awesome. Don't forget that if there is ripe fruit on the property you can pick it and the is also a machete available in the laundry room for your use. Lastly the beds are so comfortable especially after a long day hiking and swimming! I really can't recommend this property enough. We will be coming back!"

  • Relaxing vacation

"I rented this home for 10 days for myself and my children (ages 13-29). My grandson was also there. He just turned 1. And my older brother. This was his first vacation and a beautiful one for him. We loved the flexibility everyone had to either relax inside, fish, snorkel, sun bathe or walk around to nearby areas. We did have to cross to the west side of the island for entertainment. It was a 2 hour drive to go to Kona for the luau and to snorkel at Capatain Cook's cove. Our hostess was on top of things. We stayed off our electronics almost the entire time--which speaks strongly of how satisfied everyone was. I have never felt so relaxed. Thank you!! Our only disappointment was the fact that there were no sandy beaches. Lava rock everywhere. The Rainbow waterfall and tropical botanical gardens were beautiful and close by."

  • Great modern house perfect for our stay!

"This house was great, and perfect for our short stay on the "other side" of the island while staying primarily in Waikoloa. There's a cute little swimming pond right off the driveway that my girls swam around in and practiced snorkeling. The champagne pond is very close (walking), as are the kapoho ponds (driving). We also went down to Kalapana twice in one day to view the lava, so that's close enough too (under one hour). The house was very clean, updated, and in a nice quiet neighborhood. Only drawback is there's no dishwasher in the modern kitchen. The rental agent, Jeana, was awesome. She was available whenever I needed her and helped with everything I asked. Highly recommended and we'd stay again. The downstairs unit is a good option too it we come with more family."
