  • Fabulous property, beautiful site - highly recommended.

"We had a marvelous 5 nights at this gorgeous property. The setting is spectacular -- it’s literally right on a collection of ponds and inlets, with kayaking and snorkeling available literally at your feet. The property itself is beautiful and in excellent condition, filled with beautiful Indonesian wood furniture, and the setting is quite private. We were two families with teen children traveling together, and we had a marvelous time sitting on the beautiful balconies staring at the ocean, snorkeling in the pond, watching the puffer fish get fed, and taking excursions to nearby tide pools, farmer’s markets, towns, as well as venturing out for zip lining, and hiking in volcano national park. We divided our Big Island stay between this property and a hotel on the Kona side, and we loved the mixture of sights and experiences, but this property definitely won the ‘specialness’ award. The kitchen was equipped for all basic cooking needs, and there’s a nice outdoor grill which we put to use. The master suite is gorgeous. There are two other bedrooms upstairs that share a bathroom, one with a queen bed and one with twins. The bathroom they share is spacious, though has only one sink. Downstairs, there’s a separate room with twins, and a fully-plumbed outdoor bathroom (quite luxurious, though not fully waterproof in the rain, and to get there requires walking 20 feet outdoors). Wifi was a little slow (for all 8 of us) but that kept us from being tethered to our devices. The property was very clean, and there were plenty of towels and an assortment of snorkeling equipment to borrow (though for our group of 8, a couple more snorkels would have been a plus). The ceiling fans kept everything cool and comfortable There’s lots to do within a 30 minute drive, but depending on what you’re looking for, it could be a little remote -- there’s not anywhere to walk to to grab a coffee or a meal. The nearest town is Pahoa, about 15 minutes away, and Hilo is about another 25-30 minutes beyond that. But it’s a fabulous base for both exploring and for relaxing and enjoying the views and the water, and it’s a truly memorable, gorgeous property. Highly recommended!"

  • comfortable house, great snorkeling

"This neighborhood is one of our favorite places on the Big Island and the tidepools are the absolute best snorkeling on the island. Sunny Kapoho Delight is a comfortable house - simple, clean accommodations at a good price. We enjoyed sitting on the front lanai in the morning and evening and listening to the birds and surf. The private outdoor shower is perfect for cleaning up after snorkeling. We had a minor problem with internet access and the owners were very responsive and resolved the problem quickly."

  • Beautiful Location on the water!

"We are locals and came to the other side of the island to celebrate our anniversary and see some lava. Wish we had more time to enjoy the place, it really is beautiful - just as pictured. Right on the tide pools, and it was wonderful looking at that view. Lloyd and Mindy left us a nice note, fresh flowers and wine, very welcoming and made our celebration more special. Perfect cottage for a couple. Thanks we really enjoyed our stay!!"

  • Wonderful, peaceful. Perfect family getaway

"This home has everything you need for a great stay in Kapoho. It is remote, quiet and in the best location of the Big Island. The evening breezes keep the house relatively cool. The sound of the frogs at night is delightful and better than traffic noises. The private pond is huge and has everything to see. Go night swimming and view the milky way! We dont want to leave and plan to return again as soon as we are able. The house feels like home. Sophia was very available to fix a few things and is an excellent property manager. Mahalo."
