  • A beautiful place

"We are just back from 12 days at Hibiscus House. It was our 4th visit and we keep on returning because, having tried a number of houses in Kapoho and elsewhere on the island, this is the place we enjoy most. The landscaping is very beautiful with an abundance of flowering trees and shrubs, the yard is large and the tide pool warm and very relaxing. We liked the new rock wall around it. The house itself is comfortable, spacious and nicely furnished. The kitchen comes with everything you need for food prep.We spend all our time out on the huge lanai. There's enough space that, with a number of family members visiting, you can still find a quiet place to read. This time we were all adults but we have visited with children and the place works very well for all them too. We so appreciate our holidays at this special home and hope to return"

  • Very Unique Spot!

"My husband and I spent 3 nights at this cottage after spending time on the Kohala Coast. It was definitely a reprieve from the large resorts, and we haven't been so relaxed in a long time! The area is different from anything we have seen, with the warm thermal pools, lava beaches and lush greenery. The pool is amazing, spotlessly clean and very safe. We actually enjoyed the pool more than snorkeling in the famous champagne pools across the street. Easy access to the Volcano National Park, where we spent one day. The house is very clean, and includes all of the necessities for cooking (which we did all but one night, where we went into Pahoa for Thai food). Our favourite was sitting on the huge lanai with our coffee and books. Although TV is provided, we watched very little as the lanai was so much more appealing. Ilse was a great host, her communication was prompt and she greeted us upon our arrival. Instructions for check in were thorough and she also included information on the area, shopping, etc... We would recommend if you are looking for a quiet retreat in a very unique spot!"

  • Great property and had a great time!

"The best part about the property is the lagoon which is warm to swim in and fairly good size with lots of fish to see. There are snorkeling gears on site so you don't even have to bring your own. Especially like the part that you can just get out of your room and jump into the water rather than having to pack your stuffs and drive all the way to the beach. There is also a public beach nearby if you want that although, most of the nice sandy beaches are on the Kona side of the island. I also want to give a big shout out to the property manager (Shawn) who is most helpful in providing us with general information and interesting activities in the area. He arranged for a personal chef (also named Shawn) to come prepare dinner at the house and the food is definitely top class (even better than the restaurants we visited at Hilo). Lastly, there are other activities you can do that are not too far from the property including Lava boat tour (10 minutes away) and the Volcano national park (about 1 hour away). Definitely a most memorable trip for our family! William"

  • Relaxing, Clean, Quiet

"We stayed at Kapoho Kaiyo while our place was being treated for termites on the other side of the island. It exceeded our expectations. First, it was immaculate! Hawaii, especially the east side can be moist and buggy at times. The house was virtually bug free except for a few critters that are to be expected in the tropics and those were only on the ceiling at night. I have seen more bugs on the mainland. It was bright and cheerful and furnished with taste. The kitchen was well stocked and we had everything we needed. It is a short drive into Pahoa where there are several good restaurants. Don't miss Kaleo's restaurant there. We were within a nice drive of the National Park and got to see the volcano glow right at dusk. Take the time to drive Chain of Crater's Road. It is spectacular even in the rain. Uncle Robert's in Kalapana was a fun adventure on Wednesday night. The warm pond was a 5 minute drive and well worth the experience. Floating there is like no other place. The frogs at night were not a problem for us as we like their voices. The owner was very easy to work with and promptly refunded our deposit. Mars, the local contact, was so helpful and friendly but not at all intrusive. We loved the airiness and open feeling of the house and there is plenty of room. We are looking forward to coming back and staying there. It is such a stark contrast with its lushness and greenery to the also beautiful, west side of the island with its open space and lava fields. You won't go wrong staying here!!"
