  • Great get away

"Liz and Steve were such gracious hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed our "home away from home". We loved the fresh bananas, the chickens, the frogs, the geckos and let's not forget Larry and Tucker! Thanks for making our stay so wonderful, hope to be back again! Mahalo, Jan and Steve"

  • "A Graduation Party in Hilo"

"There was a lot of space and the accommodations were good. The view and sound of the ocean was absolutely beautiful. It was very enjoyable sitting out on the lanai. All the needed items such as kitchen items, towels, bedding, etc. were well supplied. With that said, I must add the following. I have stayed in 2 other properties of yours and the condition and cleanliness of each rental was always excellent. This one was not. The floors were not swept up well. The metal rack which sits in the sink was very dirty, areas around sink were dirty. The 1st bathroom, down hall had a shower curtain that had mildew on it. There was a lamp in the living room that had no bulb. Just thought you might need to know these things as I have never found such conditions all the other times we have stayed in your rentals, which as I recall was about 5 different times. All in all...we had a wonderful stay! Aloha..."

  • This is a very opulent, gorgeous property reminiscent of a tree house.

"The surrounding tropical forest and second floor accommodations create a comfortable tree house effect. There was lots of room for the five of us, with plenty of elbow room inside and on the beautiful second floor deck at the front of the house. We really liked the gas fire pit; we did not use the hot tub downstairs or the corner stove heating unit in the living room; there is no apparent central heating. We were there in late June, with hot days and cool nights. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils, cookware, and a large fridge. The property was very clean, and had lots of cozy seating and comfortable beds. The property manager lives quietly on the lower level, and was very welcoming. We enjoyed Hale Mauna Loa's close proximity to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Kīlauea is incredible at nightfall! Hilo was an easy 30-mile drive away. We also made the trip to the south coast and the Sea Arch. Be aware that the closest large grocery store (FoodLand Kea'au) is twenty miles away, so stock some provisions on your way to Hale Mauna Loa. We enthusiastically recommend this property to anyone."

  • Perfect hale for any group or family needing space, large kitchen, comfort and fun!!!

"Aloha Gregg, Your VRBO was a perfect choice for one of the homes that I selected for our halau Volcano performance sleep over. This house was exactly what I needed for a base during our stay. The kitchen and garage was great for preparing meals for three different houses. We used the huge garage for rehearsals and changing room for costumes. The back yard was perfect for some volleyball fun where all houses joined to play here! The rooms set up worked out perfect for all. During down time the kids enjoyed the entertainment center, games, cards, WiFi etc... We are thankful for your checking on our arrival and making sure all was well. We are Halau Waiau from Waimea, HI and I truly recommend this hale to any family or group! Your hale helped make our performance and Halau huaka'i an awesome experience!
