  • Fantastic vacation home

"The Leilani rainforest cottage has absolutely everything anyone could possibly need for a comfortable stay. The immaculately maintained grounds feels like living in your own private botanical garden. The location is tucked away and quiet, but easily within driving distance to many spots on the east side of the island. There is also a delightful kitty, Rex, who regularly visits!"

  • Fantastic "Once in a lifetime" experience

"Our stay at Music Cave of Refuge was a wonderful, once in a lifetime experience. The area and people truly became our home away from home. We found so much to do and see that we could've easily enjoyed another week! The home is one of the best values in the entire area and provides the perfect relaxing environment for your stay. Darlene is nearby and provided a wealth of information and suggestions for everything from what to do to where to eat and shop. The Music Cave of Refuge itself is decorated as well as any “Disney” property and made my wife and I feel 20 years younger. Fortunately we had our Son with us to figure out the remotes, and wealth of electronics. The home is very clean, comfortable and secure, easily handling the three adults we had during our stay. The two bedrooms with two full bathrooms served our needs well. The location is away from all of the typically touristy things Hawaii has to offer, but close enough that a day excursion can take you almost anywhere on the island. The local towns and farmers markets provide an insider’s view of what it is really like to live on the Big Island. We found that local restaurant prices were reasonable, and the food was excellent at every place we tried. During the evenings we returned to the cottage and relaxed with drinks on the lanai, enjoying the cool breezes and sounds of the ocean. After cocktails, we gathered in the kitchen and dining facilities to cook and eat at the home. After dinner we could watch a movie on one of the 3 “BIG SCREENS” with a tasty batch of popcorn. It was the perfect ending to the day where together we would plan for the next. If you want to really experience the real Hawaii, and rainforest settings with a view of extraordinary nature (Lava flow) that you may never in your life have a chance to witness again, then I highly recommend staying at the Music Cave of Refuge for your next vacation on the Big Island. Special thanks to Darlene for all your help as a tour guide, restaurant critic, and especially coming to find us when we got lost. You are truly special."

  • Treehouse Experience

"Loved the treehouse - very clean, fascinating things around every corner, impressed with all the recycled wood and other items in the house, felt like we were truly in the jungle. We were constantly finding unusual things in the house that Skye had decorated. Skye could not have been a better host. Because of all his advice, we were able to streamline our activities and not waste time. Would highly recommend this very fun experience to anyone."

  • Beautiful home. Well cared for ,clean, neat, private, with all the utensils, conveniences etc.necessary

"Property is amazing! Fruit trees blooming in one area, others producing fruit-- papaya, pineapples, bananas, avocados, oranges at different times. Orchids in all the trees, each blooming at their particular time. Walking among all the beautiful plants& trees in the garden is truly walking in paradise. Pool to cool off in on hot days. Coqui frogs sing you to sleep while the roosters crow in the distance..A wonderful place for a vacation, close to all attractions. Highly recommended."
