  • Great out of the way cottage

"The location is very out of the way and quiet, except for the coqui frogs, which I like. Good accommodations and amenities. Felt like being in your own home. If you are looking for a quiet location away from the hustle and bustle and don't mind a bit of a drive, this is a good place. Trish was very informative and helpful!"

  • As always, WOW!

"2nd time here, but certainly not our last! For those who don't need the 5 star hotel services, you can't find a better spot to chill out and hit your reset button. Beautiful setting, very friendly sea life, quiet, and now with internet, bring your roku stick and turn on a hawaiian music station, make a mai tai and reeeeelax! Bring your mask and fins! Snorkeling in the bay and champagne pond is wonderful. There are many kinds of colorful fishes everywhere and cool and hot places are all around the protected part of the bay ( it's calm in there even when the waves are pounding the rest of the bay). A 3 foot big eye tuna hung out with us for 2 weeks, as did seven distinctive green turtles and one white one. For newbies, there are coolers on site, so take one to Pahoa on your grocery trips for the perishables, just in case you want to stop somewhere on your way home. Paolo's in Pahoa offers some of the finest Italian food anywhere, including Italy. Do Not Miss the mushroom ravioli in both the world class bolognaise and the equally etherial gorgonzola cream sauces. We usually get an extra order to go - trust me, you will thank yourself later! The little organic grocery in town is awesome as well. Hale Lokelani is a perfect retreat for writing, reading or just soaking up the beauty and doing as much or as little as you wish. The night market at the end of the road is absolutely outstanding - top notch foods, fantastic music, art you will actually want to take home, great people! Tons of stuff to do within an hour's drive, but you'll find out all too soon, if you have stocked up on food and drinks, you won't want to go anywhere! Mahalo and ENJOY!!!!!! P.S. The management is fantastic! Accessible and responsive, they take real good care of you and the place. You should too! Keep the Aloha alive!!!"

  • Cleanest house on the Big Island

"The Tiki's Hut house is a two bedroom one bath with a nice size living room and a spacious full kitchen placed on about 10 foot stilts that allow for great trade wind flow all through the house. There were several stand out things that come to mind when I think about writing this review but the one thing that stands alone is how clean the house and yard was. That being said the Lanai was huge with plenty of seating at the table for 8 plus room to move about the Lanai while barbecuing, eating or just relaxing. Then there were the two yards that were kept very clean with lots of different fruits to pick and beautiful flowers to enjoy. It really was nice to just stroll about looking at all the obvious and hidden plants, flowers and fresh food items. Also the full size washer and dryer was a plus before moving over to the Kona side of the island. The host made it very easy to access the gate and door codes giving us a very private, comfortable (and again clean) place to relax, sleep and eat while on the Hilo side of the Big Island. This house would be hard to top in this area of Hawaii and in this price range. A+++++++++++ As an avid hiker, diver and Lava enthusiast I really liked the close proximity (about a 20 minute drive) to the end of Hwy 130 on the Kalapana side of the current Lava Flowing into the Pacific Ocean. Also the Ocean and the Kapoho tide pools were just a short drive away."
