  • Great location for exploring the east side

"Marie is a wonderful owner and could not be more generous or helpful. We were a group of three adults and even though it's a studio with one bathroom it worked fine for us! They have done a wonderful job landscaping and it really feels like paradise. I would absolutely recommend, especially if you are planning to do a lot of day trips. We basically made breakfast then took off for the day and then returned to make dinner and watch the sunset from the observation tower. Wonderful!"

  • Authentic, Serene, Unique

"This is by far our favorite accommodation ever. This house was built with every detail in place, but with an eye for comfort and for peace. As soon as you enter the inner court, the stress is left behind and deep sense of serenity overtakes you. Then a sense of adventure leads you to every room, nook and cranny. There are many rooms in this house, outdoor and indoor: dining room, living room, sitting room, lanai/terrace, family room, bedrooms in far corners, bath houses and Japanese Ofuro (deep bath), a small devotional room as well and a wrap around lanai that takes you around it all inside and outside the compound. The inner court has a pond and a Japanese garden with fish, an occasional white cat passing by rather quickly and a mother hen with her babies strolling through (if you are into Miyazaki Movies, you will find yourself in his world). There are different points from the lanai where you can sit which offer different views points to the garden. There are also so many varieties of plants, it is like a botanical garden. I would highly recommend a guide book. There is one in the house, it is huge but doesn't cover all the plants found here. The Western style beds and furniture are highly comfortable and I would think on the luxury end of the line, the kitchen offers everything you need and is low maintenance. It was super clean and the owner was very accommodating and pleasant. The surrounding is beautiful and close to amenities. We have kids and we had a talk about keeping everything in the proper spirit of the place: they loved the place and were impressed. They played in the pool and went on discoveries and found 100+ treasures. Some spent hours drawing and writing. We have worked overseas for 15 years and have been in all kinds of buildings, 5 stars to 1 star, Western World to Third World countries and this is by far the most amazing and wonderful building we've ever been to. It is extremely hard to leave. This place would especially suit people with a high amount of stress, those bereaved or those who would want a new start in life or who would want to decompress from their stressful routine."

  • Girl Scout Getaway

"This was our first vacation rental, so we didn't really know what to expect. Full-disclosure, we had a Negative Nancy as a chaperone and the water pressure was a point of contention for her. I probably should have remembered all the reviews and better briefed our group before we got there! That being said, the majority of our group thought the house was lovely, and we didn't want to leave. The location was remote enough to make us feel like we were truly getting away from everything, and forced our girls to think about what the needed to do/get in town each day (7-11 isn't right around the corner like it is at home), but still reasonable to get out and see the island. A few of our activities were out of Keauhou Bay, making for some early mornings to get over there, but it was nice to have such a serene location to come back to each night. We had a group of 7, and there was ample room for all of us and if I were travelling to the Big Island with a group of 5+, I would stay here again. One of our chaperones left a detailed list of our activities in the journal, but be sure to head the 2 blocks down for a sunrise--the view from the master bedroom balcony, while lovely, does not do it justice. Our troop made some great memories on this trip and it was delightful to have them all in one place enjoying each other's company."

  • Home away from home

"This location has super awesome hosts! The house was perfect for our large ohana of 16! There are plenty of extra sleeping arrangements for the keiki and tons of space to play outside. We even made great use of the dry sauna after a long day of exploring the island."
