  • Extremely helpful owner

"Found myself with conflicting reservations with two VRBO properties. Deborah was extremely accommodating with quick email turnaround, clear cancellation policy, and a quick PayPal refund. I highly commend her for her integrity."

  • Private, well-equipped, comfortable

"My husband and I sought a venue away from tourists, shops, noise, traffic, and unnecessaries, like dishwashers, washer/dryers, jacuzzies, restaurants, and vast living space. Oliana Cottage was all of that and more. It was cozy but well equipped. In one room there was a kitchen area, a dining area, a sleeping area, and to the side a bathroom. Towels, extra bedding, utensils, and even snorkel gear were provided. The owner gave us a map of the attractions close by, of which there are many: warm ponds, tidal pools, Lava Tree Park, MacKenzie Park, a black sand beach, and sites of lava flow (pahoehoe). It was also quite close to the road to the viewing site of the active Kilauea lava flow. Frogs serenaded us at night. For anyone seeking to avoid the usual touristy things, this cottage is perfect."

  • Another Great Stay at Kai Malolo!

"My husband and I just returned from our second stay at Kai Malolo. As I expected, it was just as amazing as our first stay. The home is beautiful and had every amenity we needed, the views are incredible, and the location is exactly what we wanted (non-touristy, right by the water, but a quick drive from a grocery store). We loved our time here and I expect that we'll be back for a third stay soon!"

  • Great house, facilities and location

"We stayed 25 Dec 2016 to 1 Jan 2017. We were 7 in total, with two couples and 3 singles, all worked out well with 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. We really enjoyed the less touristy area (as compared to Kona, for example). 'Children' walked to Kehena Beach every day or two and swam when locals were swimming. Without a lot of sun at this time of year, the pool was a little cool, but the hot tub was always hot, great for warming up and night star gazing. With no street lights and no really adjacent neighbours, nights were really dark and good for stars. There was always enough hot water for showers. Towels and linens were plentiful and of good quality. The house was clean. Karen the manager was prompt to respond to calls and texts and the owner Leith was prompt on emails. Karen suggested the Wednesday night market in Kalapana, which younger folks really enjoyed, while the three elders watched lava falling into the ocean, that evening, also close by. Kalapana is close by and has a store for most essentials, although we did most of our shopping in Hilo. Pohoa has a great laundromat and Keaau also has a grocery store. Not advertised was the closet under the stairs, that stored beach chairs, umbrellas, and snorkelling gear of which we made good use. There was also an ironing board and iron. There were upstairs and downstairs full size fridges. Cooking is upstairs with enough utensils to satisfy the 'foodies' in our group. We usually snacked through breakfast upstairs, but ate dinner at the downstairs dining set. Overall we all had a great time and we would definitely recommend Absolute Paradise.
