  • Quaint cottage with a view — a REAL Hawaiian getaway

"My new wife and I LOVED our stay at Manihani's quaint farm cottage. We wish we could have stayed for weeks, rather than just the five nights we had booked. The cottage is on a beautiful spread of land. Even though the driveway takes you past a couple other homes, by the time you get to the cottage you feel like you have the whole east side of Kaua'i to yourself. Also, my wife and I felt like Anahola, the small community where this place is located, is the perfect spot on the island. It's just far enough removed from the tourist hangouts that you can decompress, but still just a quick drive to Kapaa and Hanalei, two places with good restaurants and all the amenities. One major plus to this property is that it has a ton of gear for the beach — two beach chairs, a couple floating chairs, some sun hats, beach towels, even an umbrella. We were so thankful to find this stuff waiting for us. It made our days at the beach (we recommend the Anahola Beach Park and Kekaha) way more comfortable than they would have been had we been left to our own devices. A review of Manihani's farm wouldn't be complete without a mention of Coco-nut, the dog. He's a super friendly chocolate lab who would come for visits from the host's home nearby. He came and hung out with us and played fetch two mornings in a row. Being the dog lovers that we are, hanging out with Coco sent this place over the top for us! Last but not least, Diana was the consummate host. Her e-mails prior to our stay were super helpful. The notebook about the property — which was out on the counter for our arrival — was very helpful as well. We were never left guessing about the wifi password or what to do with the trash; all our questions were answered right there. This cottage is definitely a no-frills kind of place. But if you're looking for an escape from all the hubbub that you find around Hawai'i, then you should do yourself a favor and stay here."

  • Perfect!

"I set up this reservation two years ago. Wanted a home large enough for two families plus myself to spread out, relax, have our own space yet all together under one roof. The beach and it's safety also important as with five grandchildren ages 9 through 15 safety important. Having been to Kauai twice before I knew what areas to stay away from and what areas to look for that perfect house. FOUND IT! The home and grounds more beautiful then I imagined it would be. The beach.......well, it was Hawaii in every sense of the word not to mention great snorkeling just steps away! Absolutely no need for a swimming pool when having beach front that provided all the swimming anyone would want. The boards and snorkeling equipment well used. So many amenities around to keep the kids and adults busy/happy. The historical town of Kappa close by to visit. Shaved ice became a favorite. Property location made it easy to get to all those little hideaway beaches north of Kappa. Heads up....if you drive north leave early as the parking can be challenging at the most sought after beaches. On those days of exploration don't sleep in! The other side of this is how wonderful property manager Jude was to us. We enjoyed her little visits not to mention the pineapples fresh off her pineapple farm. She is proud of this property and rightly so. Thank you Jude for all! In closing I say "Ditto" to all other recent reviews of this place. Don't be afraid of renting this home. Go for it. You won't be disappointed in any way. A great home for my family of 10. My only disappointment.....having to leave. That being said....... the good memories will live on forever. PERFECT!"

  • Fully stocked, high end estate on a secluded beach - great for snorkeling!

"There are no words to properly describe our vacation on Kauai-but "magical" comes closest. This home is gorgeous and even nicer than represented on the website. Jude is a very thoughtful and friendly manager who will truly do her best to meet your every need. I'm a baker and the home was VERY well stocked, they even had Pink Himalayan Sea Salt in the pantry! However, I guess most people don't come to Hawai'i to bake and there was no mixer. Jude stopped by to check on us and we mentioned this and *boom!* the house now has a mixer! All of our needs were met and had I known how truly well stocked the home was I could've literally just packed a carry on and had all I needed for the trip. In an email prior to our trip we were informed that shampoo and conditioner and soaps would be supplied, but I did not trust that it would be quality shampoo and a real conditioner (not "conditioning shampoo" like in hotels) so I brought my own everything which was completely unnecessary! Not only was it quality-it was of superior quality! We were provided with Malie organic products, a local Hawai'ian product that had us googling where we could buy it because it was so amazing! The yard was perfect for the children to play. The ocean was right out of our back door and we snorkeled every. single. day! We saw unicorn fish, butterfly fish, a sting ray, Christmas wrasse, the list goes on and on-it was a gorgeous, thriving reef right in your back yard! The landscaping was gorgeous, there is a coconut grove right up the beach that is straight from a movie...oh and the icing on the cake? It's all yours! Honestly. We had the beach COMPLETELY to ourselves 8 out of 9 days!!!!! I can't say enough about how lovely this home made our vacation. The privacy, the luxury, the convenience, the KITCHEN...even the pull out bed in the den is of the highest quality and supremely comfortable! Vacation like a Kardashian! lol Kauai is the most beautiful place I've ever been. The mountains, canyons, waterfalls, and of course the ocean...truly breathtaking. You can't drive for 5 minutes without gasping at God's majesty. Leave the hoards of tourists at the hotel. Enjoy walking straight out your door to the beach. Kayak in the provided kayaks! Snorkel with the provided snorkels. Cook in the chef's kitchen. Meet your best hair with the Malie shampoo and conditioner! Enjoy every moment that you get to be in Hawai'i."

  • Feels like home

"This house is great! My family has stayed here a few times and each time it has been been awesome. Traveling with kids, especially little kids, is stressful enough but staying here takes away that stress because the owners have thought of it all. Toys, pack n play, books, movies and the list goes on. They've got snorkel gear and boogie boards along with chairs, mats, coolers and umbrellas. I suggest going straight to the house from the airport to see what provisions you've already got before hitting the store. This is a family home great for big groups and good friends. The views from the deck are outstanding. The outdoor shower is a huge plus! The burger place down the street is the best on the island plus fresh made sushi is in the grocery store right next door. Win, win. :-)"
