  • Just what the doctor ordered!

"This, our first Hawaiian Island vacation, was a reward for my wife, as she had cared for her father (with mild Alzheimer's) in our home for the last 16 months of his life, & although neither of us ever balked at the privilege of providing care for a man we dearly loved, it still takes its emotional & mental toll. That being said, the primary purpose of our trip to Kauai was to relax, relax, & relax some more, & Ted's second floor Unit #205 met that purpose to a T. The east-facing balcony lanai just outside the window wall in the living room, with its sliding glass & screen doors, allowed us to "chill out", whether we were having Kauai coffee in the AM or lunch or supper or Longboard Lager & wine in the evening. The bedroom at the other end of the condo was very comfortable & had plenty of closet space but frankly, since we live in the high desert of Albuquerque NM, with plenty of "beach" but no ocean, we slept half the time on the sleeper sofa so that we could be lulled to sleep by waves crashing on the shore below us. I have a bad back, but honestly I was comfortable on the sleeper sofa. We hardly used the bedroom A/C, as the trade winds blowing thru the east sliding screen doors to west-facing bedroom windows kept us coolly comfortable all the time, whether we were awake or sleeping in either room. I know that previous reviews complained about traffic noise, but we found that it was not any more bothersome than most any large city (we have sirens, too) unless one is well away from arterials, but then you don't get the beachfront ambiance this condo provides; & if you like rural, then you will love the rooster "alarm clock" provided by a couple of Kauai's feral chickens. The website's views shown were not misleading: Wailua Bay waves hitting the beach were incredible. The 7 minute walk to the beach can be done without crossing the Kuhio Hwy. The undertow was too strong for swimming while we were there, but Lydgate Park is a 5 minute drive to have Snorkling 101, & you can drive to the south (best snorkeling) & north shores in less than an hour. Kitchen was well-appointed with any pots, dishes, appliances, etc., that one needs to cook meals; if you prefer walking to eat out, then there are 5 inexpensive restaurants 1-2 blocks away; we never had a bad meal at any of them. Plenty of electronics for entertainment, but we didn't come to Kauai to watch TV. If we come back to Kauai, we want to stay here again. Mahalo, Ted, Marvis, & Lauren!"

  • Great Place!

"This was a perfect condo on the East side of the Island for me and my wife. We somehow didn't have the suite access instructions when we arrived. Despite the lady at the front desk being suspicious of us and generally no help at all we were able to email Mariel and she responded right away with the instructions. After that it was clear sailing. The condo has everything you will need. There is an ice maker in the freezer that was an awesome surprise. I think this is a complex with a lot of older people so it is exceptionally quiet. The other residents are very friendly. The lady in a condo near us, Nancy, saw us arrive and helped us locate the lock box and since we arrived early before the room was ready offered us to come in and change out of our winter-like clothes. Like I said, extremely friendly. The lanai overlooks the pool but you can see the ocean as well which was a nice surprise. Bring your binoculars as we saw whales almost every morning. The grounds are very well maintained. The wifi works great. There is a large flat screen tv to watch at night as well as a small tv in the bedroom. There is no air conditioning in the entire complex however there are ample ceiling and other fans in the condo to help keep you comfortable at night. This island has a VERY large population of chickens and roosters. YOU MUST BRING EARPLUGS FOR SLEEPING! It was perhaps the best thing we brought with us because we would not have slept without them. They are a bit comical at first but can get a bit annoying after a week or so. There is a Longs Drugs just up the road if you need to pick up some sun screen and other supplies when you arrive. There really isn't anything I can complain about with this condo. So if you are looking for a nice condo on the East side of the island than this place would be hard to beat. We really lucked out with this place. We recommend the kayaking tour on the Wailua River but bring shoes/sandals you can hike in and get wet. Also the hike up the Sleeping Giant is a must but keep going past the end of the trail sign for the best experience. We saw 7-8 year olds up there so it's not too extreme. Kealia Beach for bodyboarding and Lawa'i Beach for snorkling. Guaranteed to see turtles. Olympic Cafe in Kapa'a has great food with very large portions and an awesome atmosphere. Kauai Island Brewery and Grill rocks! We would come back here in a heartbeat if, or perhaps, when we return to paradise. Thank you Mariel. T. Grado Abbotsford, BC CA"

  • Great Vacation House

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The property was exactly as described, and was easy to find after dark. The property management company provided excellent customer service and very detailed instructions for the house, and they were very easy to work with. We never had any issues while staying at the house, so there was no need to contact the property managers while we were there. It was nice staying at a house away from the crowds in a peaceful and friendly neighborhood, and being right on the beach was awesome! The view from the house was incredible; ocean on one side, and mountains on the other side. We really enjoyed our stay, despite the crowing roosters that are found throughout the island. One suggestion we have is to add curtains on the bathroom windows for a little more privacy, especially when the groundskeepers and maintenance personnel are at the property."

  • Great location and beautiful view

"Just got back from a two week stay. The location is absolutely fabulous so close to everything, the gardens, pool and tiki bar was a lot of fun! The beach, ocean and sunrise was gorgeous!!! If you have little ones their is a little Keiki beach next door at Kauai beach resorts...used every morning with our little one. We did have to buy our own toilet paper and toiletries as there was not enough for more then a few days stay. The room could also use more dishcloths, face cloths, cutting board and maybe a nice sharp kitchen knife. Just to help make things easier to eat at home. It would of been nice to have use of laundry but we did have friends staying at the wapouli resort down the road and they had machines in their room so we lucked out there to get things done. As well the bath tub does not drain as you shower. Other then that it was beautiful, we were happy and our little guy hated to leave. Thank you!"
