  • Magical Week in Paradise

"We had an extended family group of 14 people stay here through the week of July 4th, and everyone went away wanting more. Both the main house and the tree house were well appointed with all the amenities to feel at home. We did most of our cooking in the main house and the bbq below. There were plenty of pots, pans, cooking utensils, dishes, glasses, etc. to cook and serve a meal for all of us, with plenty of space to sit and enjoy the awesome beauty that surrounded us. The best thing about the main house was all the outdoor living space. The North Shore of Kauai is magical and this property with its view of the bali hai mountains and close proximity to some of the greatest beaches on the planet made all the difference in our family vacation."

  • Perfect Beach House in an Idyllic Beach Neighborhood on the North Shore

"Our family spent 2 relaxing weeks at Hale Alealea in Ha'ena. Four adults and two children (ages 10 and 12). Upon arrival we found the house VERY clean and ready for our stay (this was our 4th family trip to Kauai and our first away from Princeville). It was a pleasure to be in such a quiet and lush beach town. We needed to contact the management agency a couple of times for minor items and they were quick to respond and even came by once to assist with a small issue. Location - Hale Alealea is in a quiet (except for the local roosters) beach neighborhood. The dirt road leading to the house has very little traffic except for those staying in homes on the road. We were comfortable allowing our children to roam around the neighborhood and beach with out us. There were heavy rains before and during our stay and the road was full of fairly deep pot holes (literally, every inch of the dirt road). It made for a very slow and bumpy trip to and from Kuhio Hwy. We would have considered an SUV if we knew about the road before our arrival . Evan the property manger commented after visiting us one day that she needed to rest in the driveway after the trip on the dirt road to the house. Fortunately, about one week into the trip, the county came with machinery to grade the road. After two days of grading the road was smooth as pavement. This was not a major issue for us but should be considered if traveling with elderly or those that get motion sick easily. We considered it part of our experience being in an authentic beach town on the north shore. There are two beach easements on either end of the road that leads to Kepuhi beach. Some swimming areas at both ends when the seas are calm. Hale Alealea - The house has four comfortable bedrooms and three bathrooms. Our children loved the outdoor shower after a day at the beach. We spent many evenings on the very large lanai off the kitchen. We used the BBQ on the lanai many times for dinner. The big kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to prepare meals (which we did every day). The property grounds are full of manicured mature plants. The home also had a full washing machine and dryer on the ground floor just off the driveway. A great convenience. The owners of this property take great care in maintaining this home. The description of the home is 100% accurate. We would stay in Hale Alealea again! Maholo Hale Alealea owners for sharing your Hale Ohana. Aloha"

  • So convenient to Tunnels, the best snorkeling beach!!

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was impeccably done. It was so easy getting in and out -- love the combo lock instead of having a key to lose! My husband misplaced his wallet and the cleaning staff turned it in and are mailing it, which is great!! The house was well-stocked with boogie boards, and had a few snorkeling things, not much. We rented in Hanalei, and walked to the beach every single day for snorkeling, trying it at all different times of day (before 10 or 11 a.m. seemed best). I wish I'd seen the beach chairs in the storage unit, that would have been awesome. I didn't find them till the last day. Great kitchen, tons of supplies, good linens and gorgeous floors. Couldn't get streaming TV to work -- the TV wouldn't connect to WiFi for some reason. But the rest of our WiFi worked great. The staff at Bali Hai Realty were very helpful. The only negative: I have to say, along with many other reviewers, that for some reason the main room(s) of the house were very hot and stuffy. Maybe the skylights are letting in too much heat? Even with all the windows and doors open and the fans running, the main room felt still and hot. The outside was often at least 10 degrees cooler with the lovely trade winds! The other rooms cooled down pretty quickly, though, which was comfortable for sleeping, even with highs in the mid- to upper 80s during our stay. So we were totally fine in the end, and sitting outside was nice (they even had some bug spray stored there). Oh, and the first day, we couldn't really figure out the path to the beach! So it would be nice if, with the other directions in the binder, they included directions to the beach, maybe with a few pictures? My husband actually found a YouTube video showing the path, which was crazy! But it worked, and it was so nice walking out there at sunset -- you can see the sun drop into the ocean, which was beautiful. I thought the sun would set behind the mountains, so it was a wonderful surprise!"
