  • Perfect get away on the north end

"We loved our honeymoon stay at the Love Shack. Great view - sunrise in bed? Yes PLEASE. Claw foot tub was great. This is a cabin, not a luxury home, and since it's near the beach and salt water, it will look a little more "worn in" than the pictures suggest. It was clean, comfortable, and fresh. Loved having such large windows out on the beach. The air blew in the slats and into the house and kept us very cool. Kitchen has everything you need to cook. The property manager was onsite when we arrived and very friendly. They keep the place well manicured outside. Love, love, love it. Hawaii is always pricier than the mainland so I'm not sure what all the fuss is about with regard to restaurant prices being too high - we expected it. Loved our coffee every morning in town and trying out the nice restaurants (wide range of price ranges). Hanalei Coffee Company and Bar Acuda were fantastic. Wish the weather had cooperated more for snorkeling but that's just the time of year that we went and a great excuse to come back. We WILL be back. Ditto to the comments about leaving the Love Shack and going to another condo - we left and went to a nearby resort. While a resort has it's advantages, we definitely missed having our own home to stay in with incredible views and the chance to explore."

  • Great for families and those who want to get away

"This is a great clean well appointed house with plenty of room and good communal space for families to hang out. Had everything we needed to both nest and explore. Very beautiful setting on quiet dirt road street, with access to beautiful beach across the street (but a little too choppy for swimming when we visited). A great place to stay if you want to explore Napali coast - 10 mins from end of the road beach and hiking trail. A little isolated for those who want to be in the swing of things - 15 min drive over 7 one lane bridges back to Hanalei, but we got used to that (and a little coffee shop and bar are located at the other end of the dirt road). They had high chair and pack n play which was great. We did try shipping some baby items but they got sent back after reaching the island so don't count on that. Overall, very pleasant and satisfying stay."

  • Perfection...

"We were in town for a wedding and wanted to experience a more authentic Kauai experience than spending the week confined in the St. Regis. The Hale Makai Cottages fit the bill perfectly. The property is steps from the beach (we walked along the beach to Tunnels one morning) and very well kept. The house was exceptionally clean and well stocked with everything you'd need. We ended up cooking dinner all 3 nights, there are some great farmer's markets nearby, and found the kitchen well equipped with all the pots, pans and cutlery required for meal prep. There was even a BBQ right off the back of our unit which we made use of one night! The property is pretty far down the Kuhio Highway (about a 20 minutes drive outside of Hanalei Bay) which means it's paradise for anyone looking for a quiet getaway. We'll definitely be coming back a highly recommend to anyone looking for a similar experience."

  • Ka Wai

"We are back home after an enjoyable 9 days at Ka Wai Aloha on Kauai's beautiful North Shore. Kauai is always great for us. The beach is an easy walk from the house. However the house in need of some repairs: many of the screens need repair allowing mosquitoes to come in or not allowing you to open the window. The top of the dishwasher is broken and falls off its track when pulled out 2 of the showers are leaking under the house when they are running the refrigerator freezes on the top shelf and the freezer keeps ice cream continually soft. Adjusting the temperature was not possible with the control panel. many of the sliding doors are not able to lock one of the bed frames is broken most beds are not comfortable except the master The road noise is a pretty tough sell but it finally calms down in the evening. The location to the beach is great. I sound like a whiner but actually we had a great time. The kitchen is well appointed and there were lots of towels. When I called Kisha, our representative, to express my concern about the broken bed on Sunday, she called me back within and hour and was very nice. Thanks you for all the work you do on these houses. I am sure you don't know these issues exist unless someone tells you Mahalo for reading my email"
