  • Relaxing property

"We had a wonderful time in Kauai staying here. Plenty of room, basically on the beach, could hear the surf. Very nicely updated. All in all made our stay."

  • Perfect get away on the north end

"We loved our honeymoon stay at the Love Shack. Great view - sunrise in bed? Yes PLEASE. Claw foot tub was great. This is a cabin, not a luxury home, and since it's near the beach and salt water, it will look a little more "worn in" than the pictures suggest. It was clean, comfortable, and fresh. Loved having such large windows out on the beach. The air blew in the slats and into the house and kept us very cool. Kitchen has everything you need to cook. The property manager was onsite when we arrived and very friendly. They keep the place well manicured outside. Love, love, love it. Hawaii is always pricier than the mainland so I'm not sure what all the fuss is about with regard to restaurant prices being too high - we expected it. Loved our coffee every morning in town and trying out the nice restaurants (wide range of price ranges). Hanalei Coffee Company and Bar Acuda were fantastic. Wish the weather had cooperated more for snorkeling but that's just the time of year that we went and a great excuse to come back. We WILL be back. Ditto to the comments about leaving the Love Shack and going to another condo - we left and went to a nearby resort. While a resort has it's advantages, we definitely missed having our own home to stay in with incredible views and the chance to explore."

  • Perfect Beach House in an Idyllic Beach Neighborhood on the North Shore

"Our family spent 2 relaxing weeks at Hale Alealea in Ha'ena. Four adults and two children (ages 10 and 12). Upon arrival we found the house VERY clean and ready for our stay (this was our 4th family trip to Kauai and our first away from Princeville). It was a pleasure to be in such a quiet and lush beach town. We needed to contact the management agency a couple of times for minor items and they were quick to respond and even came by once to assist with a small issue. Location - Hale Alealea is in a quiet (except for the local roosters) beach neighborhood. The dirt road leading to the house has very little traffic except for those staying in homes on the road. We were comfortable allowing our children to roam around the neighborhood and beach with out us. There were heavy rains before and during our stay and the road was full of fairly deep pot holes (literally, every inch of the dirt road). It made for a very slow and bumpy trip to and from Kuhio Hwy. We would have considered an SUV if we knew about the road before our arrival . Evan the property manger commented after visiting us one day that she needed to rest in the driveway after the trip on the dirt road to the house. Fortunately, about one week into the trip, the county came with machinery to grade the road. After two days of grading the road was smooth as pavement. This was not a major issue for us but should be considered if traveling with elderly or those that get motion sick easily. We considered it part of our experience being in an authentic beach town on the north shore. There are two beach easements on either end of the road that leads to Kepuhi beach. Some swimming areas at both ends when the seas are calm. Hale Alealea - The house has four comfortable bedrooms and three bathrooms. Our children loved the outdoor shower after a day at the beach. We spent many evenings on the very large lanai off the kitchen. We used the BBQ on the lanai many times for dinner. The big kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to prepare meals (which we did every day). The property grounds are full of manicured mature plants. The home also had a full washing machine and dryer on the ground floor just off the driveway. A great convenience. The owners of this property take great care in maintaining this home. The description of the home is 100% accurate. We would stay in Hale Alealea again! Maholo Hale Alealea owners for sharing your Hale Ohana. Aloha"

  • Perfection...

"We were in town for a wedding and wanted to experience a more authentic Kauai experience than spending the week confined in the St. Regis. The Hale Makai Cottages fit the bill perfectly. The property is steps from the beach (we walked along the beach to Tunnels one morning) and very well kept. The house was exceptionally clean and well stocked with everything you'd need. We ended up cooking dinner all 3 nights, there are some great farmer's markets nearby, and found the kitchen well equipped with all the pots, pans and cutlery required for meal prep. There was even a BBQ right off the back of our unit which we made use of one night! The property is pretty far down the Kuhio Highway (about a 20 minutes drive outside of Hanalei Bay) which means it's paradise for anyone looking for a quiet getaway. We'll definitely be coming back a highly recommend to anyone looking for a similar experience."
