  • Amazing retreat!

"My husband and I went to Hanalei for the first three nights of our trip to Kauai, and our only regret is that we didn't stay at Marney's place for the duration of our vacation!! We booked this place last minute and could not believe our luck! We also felt very fortunate that the entire house was empty and we know our experience, while still tranquil and peaceful, may have been a little bit different. Regardless, the house was in a quiet neighborhood and at the end of the cul-de-sac. It was only a block away from the Hanalei Pavilion which made it easy to run back to the house if we forgot anything once at the beach. The house had two bedrooms with ceiling fans, a private lanai, and an outdoor cooking stove. The outdoor shower was also located on the side of the lanai which made it so easy to clean off after coming home from the beach! The kitchen was equipped with some cooking amentieis which makes it convenient for those passing through. Additionally, the house was equipped with all the beach chairs, beach towels, and coolers that one could ask for! It made visiting Hanalei bay and the other beaches nearby a breeze! We cannot wait to head back to Hanalei and bring our entire family to rent out the two bedroom, as well as the rest of the house! Thank you Marney for being so accommodating and making our stay so pleasant and relaxing. Mahalo!! Esther and Dan"

  • Amazing, comfortable and convenient. Great for two families.

"What a great location. So convenient. The house is in great shape the upstairs area makes a perfect master suite, to give couples privacy or space and time away from the kids. The Hanalei house is the perfect way to enjoy Hawaii."

  • Perfect Family Cottage

"Perfect place for an active family looking for both ease and adventure. Plenty of space. Kids (13 and 9) could share bedroom with twin beds, parents had roomy queen bedroom (beds comfy). The screen-in lanai was ideal for our shoes, wet suits, towels...all of our random gear. Cottage felt roomy with the expansive views of the mountains and gardens. Best part the 2 minute walk in bare feet to the beach. We kept the car in the driveway for days. Walk to Hanalei to morning coffee and evening ice cream was delightful. Hanalei is our favorite Hawaii destination as it's the opposite of the crowded resort feel. We don't need a pool anymore now that kids are big. They loved the surf - endless entertainment. Cottage clean, well equipped (boogie boards and frisbees in adjacent garage), homey (big fruit/snack basket upon arrival - just one of the many welcoming touches from lovely hosts). Our favorite activities - zip-lining at Koloa spot (one-two days away from 10 day trip to Hanalei was just enough), snorkling in Poipu, hiking the Napali trail "at the end of the road", several days with NO driving just on the Hanalei beach (enough beach to have a 3 mile walk round trip) surf lessons out of Halanlei, Wed night luau at Tahiti Nui, dinner at Bar Acuda (MUST). BRING YOUR MONEY! "Breakfast" at Halanlei bread company would cost upwards of $100. BUT, cooking in cottage helps. Get local fish from Dolphin (Monchong amazing). Best family vacation we've ever had, I'd have to say even better than a Europe trip we took. Would come back in a heartbeat. Thank you Smokey and Kim!"

  • Truly a jungle paradise

"This property is definitely off the beaten track, but well worth the drive. The views of the mountains and all the flora on the property were amazing. There's a river/stream just below the property that you can hear from inside. Nice walking trails around the house. Dawn was very accommodating - shared fresh picked oranges and also allowed for a late checkout to accomdate our flight. Although secluded, there are multiple units on this property (below red ginger and next door) so it's not quite as private as we had anticipated. Overall a lovely experience."
