  • Review of Hale Yangkey, Hanalei, Kauai

"Our stay at Hale Yangkey in Jan, 2016, could not have been better. It is a beautiful home in the perfect island style, with spacious rooms, beautiful hardwood floors, nice, comfortable furniture, and a complete gourmet kitchen. The living quarters are on a second floor, with large garage underneath, so ventilation is excellent and very cool. Flat screen TVs in every bedroom, great, updated bathrooms (the master is huge), this house was great for our family of five. Hanalei beach, one of the most beautiful in the world, is literally a three minute walk from Hale Yangkey; and the restaurants and bars of Hanalei town are easy walking distance. Our favorites are Hanalei Gourmet(ask for a gin "Crush" from the bar), Kalypso and Tahiti Nui (casual), and The Dolphin (more upscale- wonderful teriyaki ahi, the specialty). The house is large (we could have had a party for 30 people--we didn't) and has a great, private lanai for relaxing or serving a meal. The house is so close to the beach that it was easy to carry a bottle of wine to the beach to watch the sunset, or take an early morning walk on the beach before breakfast. The weather was fantastic for our stay during early Jan, lots of sun and cool temperatures at night. We had one plumbing problem in one of the bathrooms one evening; we called, went to dinner, and when we returned, the problem was fixed. The owners are obviously very attentive, which we appreciated. Also, we arrived very late our first night and the owners made sure that the lights were on. Very considerate. Would highly recommend this property."

  • Fabulous Vacation

"We have been to Kauai 5 times now. This home was the best so far! It has a great location with a nice view of the bay. It is very clean, well stocked and beautifully decorated. The layout of the home was perfect for us. It offers 2 separate living spaces - upstairs and downstairs. We were two families of four and never felt cramped. We really enjoyed our stay! We will be back."

  • Perfect Vacation Home

"We just returned from our one week stay in Susan's home. We loved staying there and plan to return in a few years. Three generations: 8 adults, 4 children. Plenty of room in the house. We hung out together in the lanai and family room, used the items in the game closet, appreciated the wifi and cable tv options. Used the kitchen extensively. Loved the mountain view from the lanai, rode the bikes, did laundry, used the beach equipment. Everything thoughtfully provided in the house. The location was perfect, short walk to beach, short walk to town. We had one question after we arrived, which Susan promptly answered. An added treat was to meet Susan in person! We also appreciated Susan's efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of the house and it's guests. Susan has a solar system and a water reclamation system, as well as other methods to be environmentally friendly. Things we enjoyed were hiking the Na Pali trail to the waterfall (Bring food, and water!!!), eating at the local restaurants, buying fresh poke everyday, making musubi, kayaking, boogie boarding, spending time together as a family, making memories."
