  • Pure Heaven

"My wife and I stayed in the cottage twice. The first time was for a week in December and then again in May for 15 nights. We have our own home on Kauai but preferred to rent the cottage due to the location which is unparalleled. The cottage is very well appointed with a beautiful kitchen and all the amenities one would expect in a fine rental. The owners are two of the kindest and most gracious people I have had the pleasure of meeting. They truly care for our comfort and are quick to respond to any questions. We only used the room with the queen bed. The mattress was extremely comfortable and we especially like having an outdoor shower. Having rented homes on Kauai for over 15 years we recognize that beachfront in Hanalei is becoming harder and harder to find and having such a lovely cottage for an affordable price on the bay is such a blessing and gesture of kindness. The owners could surely charge more for this location. Thank you Smoky and Kim for your hospitality and we look forward to coming back again and again. On a side not, in reading other reviews for this home, I am clueless as to why someone would give a lower rating because the weather was not nice. Shouldn't the review focus entirely on the home and the service provided by the owners. Just seems so unfair to blame a rental home for inclement weather...just sayin. Mahalo...G & K"

  • Peaceful Honeymoon!

"My husband and I were here for our honeymoon and we had the most perfect time. The property is so well thought out and considerate. We really had no need for anything. One of my favorite parts was simply seeing the lush greenery surrounding us through every window. Thank you so much for providing the perfect backdrop as we begin this new chapter together!"

  • Perfect spot on lovely Hanalei Bay

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My husband and I had a lovely stay at Hale Maluhia. We loved the location right on Hanalei Bay, and this house is particularly well situated in Pine Trees near the quieter western end of Weke Road, away from the pier and crowded east end of the beach. Privacy can be an issue at beach houses, but because an expansive lawn and beautifully landscaped garden separates the house from the beach, we never felt on view. We could see the water through the ironwood trees growing in the sand, but beach-goers could not see in the house. Another advantage to the location of the house is that you can’t see the big, ugly St. Regis resort in Princeville, which looms over the eastern end of the lovely bay. There is a parking area just to the west of the house, but we never heard a sound. The house is also close to the road, but once the gate closes behind you, there is a sense of quiet, seclusion, safety, and privacy. The house was very comfortable for the two of us, though it had room for more. The compact space has been very intelligently and stylishly designed with a sort of Zen Asian feel. Both indoor and outdoor dining (in an elevated gazebo) areas are great. The kitchen was well outfitted, though we mostly preferred to try the local restaurants. The bath is handsomely and efficiently designed (a bit dark, but we found everything dark in Hawaii due to the high cost of electricity). Kauai is the land of wild chickens, and there are always roosters crowing. We slept with earplugs: problem solved. There is a cute neighborhood cat named Patches, and from reading the guest book we learned that many renters adopted her. We enjoyed her very much, but if you are not a cat lover, she could be ignored. Our first night we had some trouble getting the outside floodlights to stop flashing, but Krisha, the manager, came over right away. She was lovely and very helpful, and Kristine at Hawaii Life was patient with questions. A great experience from beginning to end!"
