  • Home away from home

"We had never been to Hawaii so before going we researched which island would be best and ended up choosing Kauai. We don't like very touristy things. We feel like hotels and chains don't give us the full experience we desire when traveling. It was me, my husband, our 2 boys aged 1 and 3, my sister n law, and both mother and father n law. The house gave everyone their privacy but also the togetherness we wanted, was located right off the beach, and had a great feeling to it. We were quite active on this one week trip and the house was the perfect place to come back to after a long day of exploring Kauai. We cooked a lot while there and made good use of the deck. This house helped make this the perfect family vacation. Peter was very accommodating and gave us great recommendations of places to visit on the island. The location seemed very convenient for us."

  • Amazing views, great location.

"Firstly, Linda was great. We weren't exactly the most communicative guests, but she checked in on us several times before the trip to make sure we had all the information and tips for Kauai that we needed, and then she checked in again on our arrival day to make sure that everything in the property was good to go (it was). The condo has all the basic amenities you'd want (cable, wifi, kitchen with plenty of dishes to use for eating in, beach equipment, etc.). Everything was clean and ready to go. The view from the condo is incredible. First pic here is through the living room window, second just outside the window. You can basically see the ocean, Anini Beach (I think), and the surf hitting the reef from any window, and the trade winds blowing in were great for sitting by the window and relaxing. We also got some visitors (geese, chickens, anoles) that were pretty fun to watch moving around outside. The condo is also a quick drive from Princeville's shopping center and Hanalei Town/Bay, all of which make for great eating or relaxing and swimming (Pink's Ice Cream is amazing). We also did a bit of driving around to go to Waimea Canyon, the Kalalau Trail (to Hanakapi'ai falls-- we're not impressive enough for the full trail!), Kapa'a, Kalihiwai Beach, and Eleele for a Na Pali sailing cruise, and it never felt too inconvenient going from Princeville to those places. It's a bit of a drive out to the south shore if you're going multiple days in a row, but not too bad, and the views on the drive are still great. The only negative, which wasn't really much of a problem, is that sometimes folks walk in front of the condo, and with the windows open for a breeze (a must IMO), it feels a little lacking in privacy. There are big curtains that can be drawn with the windows open, though they blow around a lot if they're not tucked aside. We decided pretty quickly that it was much better to have the views than worry about passersby, and it was still a pretty rare occurrence anyway. So overall, a great rental, great owner, incredible views. Highly recommended."

  • Great place to stay!

"We enjoyed our stay at this beach house. Perfect location for us as we enjoy being away from it all. Nice beach, but easy enough to drive to other beaches close by to really see all of Kauai. The ceiling fans were all we needed to keep comfortable. (This could be do to staying in May, not sure about hotter months) Yes some updates could be made, but for what we needed this place was perfect. I would definitely stay again and recommend to others. Thanks for a wonderful stay!!"

  • What a great experience!

"We chose Gilligan's to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary, and we could not have picked a better place! The entire staff was helpful and friendly, and we enjoyed our stay so much, we were sad to leave. We were looking for privacy and seclusion & found the cottage to be the perfect tranquil getaway. The new granite countertops in the kitchen looked great, and added a touch of modern flair. Everything was clean & very well maintained, and we appreciated the motion light by the front door, to help guide us back in at night. The valley gets pretty dark at night, which I quite like. Living in a metropolis area, it was a welcome thing, and contributed to the peace and country feel. Each day as we headed out, we would close the house up , & were very happy at how quickly it cooled down when we returned, & opened everything back up again. The geckos were my favorite, and other than the crowing, we got a kick out of the roosters and chickens hanging out in the yard. Tony was a breeze to work with, very accommodating, and answered all of our questions. This was our first trip to Hawaii, and the cottage was the best initiation we could have hoped for. We hope to make it back someday, as it was an unforgettable experience! Mahalo! Sarah & Brett"
