"We loved the North Shore and our home base for five nights before heading to the East Side of Kauai. We did the Kalalau Trail (two miles in and two miles out) the day after we arrived. The path is difficult (rocky and muddy) but so worth it for the views. Definitely bring walking sticks. We went to all the secluded beaches (the most beautiful beaches ever), and the hikes again are muddy and some places steep. The easier beaches to get to are Tunnels, Anini and Hanalei Bay. The secluded ones are a 15 to 20 minute hike. Those beaches are Hideaway Beach (snorkeling great there), Queen’s Bath, and Secret Beach. The small village of Hanalei has cute shops, market, and great restaurants (Bar Acuda was one we really enjoyed). Be sure to check out the Lighthouse and Limahuli Garden & Preserve. So much to do on the North Shore. We were happy we rented Linda’s condo to explore the area before we went East on the Island. Thanks Linda, for your quick response time and all the information. Love Kauai!!
FYI, be sure to check out the South Beaches (they are just as spectacular), Waimea Canyon, Koke’e State Park, Wailua Falls, Lydgate Beaches/Park while on the Island. We spent a total of 12 days, and hated to leave. Lots more to explore! It made it convenient staying on the East Side to explore and hike the South Shore and canyon."
