  • Incredible rental and location

"Arrived at the Teak Room to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We were so pleased with the property. It is clean, comfy, quaint, and perfectly furnished and equipped for cooking. It's decor reflects the North Shore and is set in a very quiet and private location. We prepared our "Happy Hour" and walked steps to enjoy on the beach at sunset time. One night we walked along the sand to dinner at a nearby resort. The location of this property was ideal for us as it is 2 miles from the end of the road, the gateway to the Napali Coast. This part of the island has the most beautiful beaches and the best hiking on the island. We will definitely return!"

  • Ideal location and house for quiet and peace

"The house was beyond perfect. The rooms are large and comfortable, there is plenty of privacy yet feels very cozy at the same time. It also has a fabulous washer and dryer which is necessary when traveling with children! The kitchen is well stocked, the beach is perfect for children and folks looking to snorkel without crowds. The entire week we were there we saw at most six other people on the point. The place is so quiet and the rooster crows only about three times in the morning, after the sunrise. If you are looking for a quiet place, close to Hanalei and the Na Pali trails but away from the crowds, this is ideal. I would recommend this house to couples, or families with children. Even teenagers, as the wifi works throughout the house."

  • Love on the Cheap

"Great location, first and foremost. HCR is without frills, but who cares when you right on the ocean. If it's windy (and it was) you will be serenaded by the wind whistling through your louvers all night. But so what? Enjoy coffee every morning at the art gallery on the property. Beach presents tough walking through very deep sloped sands. I'm coming back though, because HCR beats all the traffic and congestion found elsewhere."

  • Perfection...

"We were in town for a wedding and wanted to experience a more authentic Kauai experience than spending the week confined in the St. Regis. The Hale Makai Cottages fit the bill perfectly. The property is steps from the beach (we walked along the beach to Tunnels one morning) and very well kept. The house was exceptionally clean and well stocked with everything you'd need. We ended up cooking dinner all 3 nights, there are some great farmer's markets nearby, and found the kitchen well equipped with all the pots, pans and cutlery required for meal prep. There was even a BBQ right off the back of our unit which we made use of one night! The property is pretty far down the Kuhio Highway (about a 20 minutes drive outside of Hanalei Bay) which means it's paradise for anyone looking for a quiet getaway. We'll definitely be coming back a highly recommend to anyone looking for a similar experience."
