  • Great place to stay!

"Tidepools suite on Poipu beach was great. The apartment was clean and comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. WiFi worked with no problems and it was great to be able to do a load of laundry. We loved that there were beach towels, a cooler and snorkel gear for us to use on the beach. The location was great I don't think our stay could have been better. Thank you Kathy!"

  • Felt like home!

"We wanted to stay on the west side of Kauai close by my family residences in Waimea and PMRF for a family reunion and ash scattering of my late grandmother. This place was perfect for my girlfriend and I! Mindy and Dave were excellent hosts and showed us aloha from the moment we arrived. This upstairs apartment is surprisingly spacious with a good size deck perfect for lounging under the shade of an umbrella, and the trade winds and ceiling fans keep the rooms cool when it's blazing hot outside. The apartment came with everything you'll need for a day at the beach including coolers, umbrellas, chairs, beach towels and snorkel gear. The layout was perfect for the 2 of us with a comfortable living space- couch, coffee table, tv, a full kitchen- full size fridge, oven stovetop, microwave, sink and dishes, a whole bathroom/shower and comfy bedroom with plenty dresser and closet room. All the appliances worked adequately and the decor made it feel like home. We were even surprised with receiving Mindy's baked goods, the coffee cake was so Ono! Mahalo Mindy and Dave for providing the best living experience possible! We hope to be able to return some day again!"

  • Wonderful Home Away From Home

"We stayed at this beautiful cottage from May 23rd thru June 2nd 2016.The description of the property was very accurate. The cottage was spotless when we arrived, inside and out. There was a beautiful welcome basket of goodies on the table when we walked in. (By the way, Martie, thanks to you, we are addicted to Kauai Kookies that were in the basket, we visited the factory and brought a bunch home). My husband and I shared the bedroom and my sister used the futon in the living room. The bed and futon were quite comfortable. The cottage provided everything we could have thought of that we might have needed for our stay. The front porch was awesome, the barbecue in the backyard made meals easy, and when we ran out of towels, we used the attached laundry room. We loved the kitchen, it was nice to cook our own meals rather than going out. The location is really convenient to the beaches especially the beautiful beach in front of the Marriott Hotel next to Dukes just down the street. We easily found the Walmart and Safeway to buy our groceries. And sightseeing was easy from the cottage, the location makes it easy to get to the east shore or south or west and north shore. We enjoyed the cable TV, and internet when we were relaxing at the cottage We even enjoyed the local wildlife, chickens, roosters, and an awesome peacock. Martie made everything so nice for our stay. We didn't want to leave beautiful Kauai. We would book this cottage again, and recommend it to friends and family for sure. Thanks Martie. Aloha from Ron, Debbie, & Cheryl."

  • Our winter home

"We have been privileged to experience two extended winter vacations at Hale O Ani and are returning again in 2017. That is probably, in and of itself, testimony to how wonderful this property is. But to restate the highlights and some additional insights I would like to share the following, much of which is supported by other reviewers of this outstanding property. First is "quality". Everything, in Hale O Ani is of the highest quality. The dishes, glassware, appliances, bedding, furniture, hardwood floors. The owners Faye and Bob are delightful, fun and responsive to needs and wants and willing to share their insights into interesting side trips. I could go on, but want to mention a few things that have proved important to us; particularly the surrounding area. When you leave Route 50 and drive up the road to the property it feels like entering Jurassic Park! The vegetation is so lush and stunning that in some places it is breathtaking. This sets the stage for a feeling of wonder and tranquility. When approaching the house from the driveway we’ve encountered Sharma Thrush singing their sweet and unusual song along with all sorts of other interesting birds. We have been fortunate enough to pick bananas off the trees in the driveway and stay long enough to eat them! The view of the palm tree from one of the bedrooms is like a live painting and the bougainvillea cascading over the hot tub in full bloom is outstanding. As a matter of fact it is the last picture I took before we left at the end of March. All in all Hale O’ Ani is a fabulous retreat, getaway, hideaway, or whatever one chooses to call it. All we know is that it is soothing to us, both inside the property and outside where it is positioned up in the hills far enough away from the hustle (but not too far) to feel like a sanctuary. We are grateful to be able to leave Upstate NY for most of the winter and now call Hale O’Ani, our winter home. Not visitors, not tourists. We come home in the winter…."
