  • Wonderful garden view unit!

"Now this is Kauai. Loved the garden view, just wished the weather had cooperated for our stay. If you love to sit on the lanai in the morning listening to the birds chirping, then this is the unit for you. Loved that it was a walk out patio with lounge chairs. It is covered so the lanai is usable even if it is raining. The kitchen area is large enough and very adequately supplied. Very nice that they leave you some items like, sugar and salt and pepper. The shower is wonderful. Nice and large. Good bathroom counter space. They have beach supplies in the room for you, cooler, chairs, boogie boards, etc. Beach towels you get from the beach hut right by the ocean. You exchange towel cards for your towels each day. Kiahuna Beach is lovely. Very relaxing. This unit is a short walk to the beach as it is at the back of the complex. The staff at Kiahuna was very helpful and friendly. If you are a garden lover, check out the Moir orchid and cactus gardens near the registration area. They are unbelievable. Never seen so many cactus and aloe plants in one place. There is no air conditioning. But it was cool when we were there, so it was no problem. You can open the window louvers on both sides of the condo and cool it off easily. Make sure you keep the patio screen doors shut at all times as the feral cats will try to come inside. The living room chairs need replacing because they make noise with everything movement you make. It would also be helpful if they accepted credit cards for payment. Would definitely come back here again."

  • One Of The Best We've Used!

"This condo is one of the best we've rented. It was very well stocked, even having a coffee grinder for those local beans you buy. Bedrooms were nice size, bathrooms have plenty of counter space, and linens are top class. Turtles were seen every day, every hour from our lanai and we even saw a school of porpoise one day. The condo is centrally located for west to Wiamea and east to Lihue. Not one even tiny complaint about this unit. You benefit from a car to see all the sites and visit different beaches as it is a 1/2 mile walk to the closest water play area. We only parked underground once and learned our lesson as it is tight with pillars. Parking above ground and backing in when not many cars works great. Stock up on basics in Lihue before you get here."

  • 5 week stay / 5 stars

"We arrived January 5th and we are sadly leaving in 2 days. Having spent lots of time on Kauai in my life, this was a great way to enjoy the island for an extended amount of time. I always say, if you want to go lay on a beach and hang out at a hotel, go to the Caribbean or Mexico, Hawaii is for adventuring & exploring. Mindy's studio gave us the perfect home base, we had a mini fridge / freezer, microwave, small cooking unit, pots pans, dishes, dinnerware etc.... So we were able to save money making breakfast at home and packing lunches for the road. The unit itself is beautiful & has a private lanai area to enoy our morning coffee & tea. An unexpected bonus was the awesome community pool / hot tub with stunning ocean views. That brings me to our next point, the neighborhood is set on a hill with gorgeous ocean views as you pull onto the street you can see Poipu down below in the distance. Location: You are about 10 minutes to Port Allen and Salt Pond Park & likewise about 10 minutes to Koloa town. 30 minutes to the canyon, 40 minutes to Polihale State Park. 30 minutes to Lihue, 40 to Kapa'a and an hour+ to Princeville. So if you are North Shore people, then keep that in mind, but driving an hour in Kauai doesn't bother us at all, we went up to the North shore at least 10 - 12 times (Get an early start and spend the day up there). The bonus is, the weather is usually much better in Poipu, so when the rest of the island is rainy, we would just mellow out, take a 10 minute drive to Poipu and enjoy the beach. The comments about noise upstairs, well yes, that is true, but Mindy and her family are very good about their volume in the mornings and at night, so frankly if you are hanging around in the middle of the day and there is some noise upstairs my question for you would be, why are you hanging around the house mid day? you're in Hawaii! Additionally there is a ceiling fan and they provided another fan for white noise to minimize help block out noise. Mindy, Dave and their children are all really cool and accomodating people. I honestly, don't think I've ever stayed with friendlier hosts. When we come back to Kauai, we will absolutely be staying here again, this place is a real gem and the neighborhood is filled with friendly people, you are in a very safe location. All in all, my only hesitance in writing a review this good is, I hope it is available the next time we come to Kauai! THANKS MINDY & DAVE!"
