  • Perfect vacation home, more roomy than we expected!

"The house was spacious and clean. We really liked the big tub in the master bedroom. The location was awesome. Walking distance to some of the best hiking on the island and one of the best beaches on the island. There was a monk seal and a giant turtle sunning on the beach the day we were there. Also walking distance to "the best happy hour on Kauai" - Kalipaki Joe's. We used the grill, which worked great. Other than some very minor maintenance issues, the place was perfect and seriously exceeded expectations. Owner Sonia was also friendly and helpful. Highly recommended."

  • The perfect house for our Kauai vacation!

"I did a lot of research before choosing Akala Pua for our Kauai vacation. On paper, the price was good, and the house seemed to meet all our needs. When we arrived, I was pleased that everything was as advertised. As you walk in the front door, the ground floor has 3BD/3BA. This worked well for us, as each of our two kids could have their own bedroom and bathroom. The beds were comfortable. There is also a laundry room with late model washer/dryer. (This really came in handy as our clean clothes started to dwindle near the end of our stay.) Upstairs is a large room with living area, dining area (with large dining table), and a kitchen. The kitchen was well-supplied: the only thing we really needed to buy to cook meals was the food. This room has high vaulted ceilings that added to the sense of space. There were numerous windows all over the house that could let the trade winds in, and ceiling fans in every room. This allowed us to stay relatively comfortable during hot humid days and nights. The location was ideal. A five minute walk west on Lawai road takes you to Lawai Beach, which is a bit rocky, but has good snorkeling (you can rent snorkel equipment right there at Boss Frogs). A five minute walk west takes you to the Kukui’ula Shopping Center with some good restaurants and shops (and generally has several musicians in outside in the evenings to). For shopping, the Kukui’ula Market is about a block away (a lot less expensive than the Living Food Market in the shopping center!). A five minute drive takes you to the Poipu Beach Park, with great swimming/wading for the family, as well as some really good snorkeling. Restaurants in the resort/tourist areas are generally good but expensive. I recommend also trying out diners and cafes frequented by locals as the food is excellent, copious, and reasonable. You sometimes have to search those out. Here are a couple of suggestions: Tip Top Café in Lihue and the Waipouli Deli & Restaurant in Kapaa. We called the management company (Garden Island Rentals) once with a question. They were responsive and friendly. We had a great time in the perfect house for a family."

  • Very chill accomodation

"Perfect place for getting together with friends, cooking dinners, and hanging out. We lived on the outdoor deck! It was great to cool off in the pool and to have A/C at night. The shutters kept the place nice and dark and we slept beautifully. The garage was full of fins, reef shoes and other beach gear which we also made great use of. I would stay there again!"

  • Charming cottage near the most beautiful part of Kauai island!

"This was my first trip to Kauai island and Turtle Cove Cottage was a fantastic place to stay and relax. There are countless beaches close, some of the best snorkeling right by The Beach House restaurant within minutes of walk to get there. I rented snorkel gear and snorkeled twice and walked right from the cottage. I visited Baby Beach, Poipu beach and drove and adventured the rest of the island to Waimea Canyon, Hanalei Beach, Princeville, Queen's bath (dangerous hike but worth it). I was able to shower in the outside bamboo shower after each adventure (heated water) which was fantastic for the adventurous type. The home contained everything you will need to accommodate your vacation. I didn't go to the Poipu club due to the fact I wanted to visit every beach that I could. I saw some of the most fantastic sunsets outside the Beach House Restaurant right on the looking point. The beds were very comfortable and air conditioning worked well for when we got really hot after a long day. I will definitely come back and stay here any day. No questions asked. Thank you so much Turtle Cove Cottage and Kauai Island for a fantastic vacation. <3 <3 <3"
