Recent Kiahuna Plantation Resort Kauai reviews

  • Catherine Sperring,

"My family has stayed in this unit through 3 different owners. We have never had a bad day there, except the days when we had to leave, and then everyone cried and hated to leave. It is a quick walk to the office to get the paper in the morning, the laundry is just across the street, it is near easy parking and just everything about it feels truly, like my home away from home. I am returning to the Plantation again this year with friends and family and look forward to that time there with great joy."

  • Wonderful visit to paradise!

"Great access to the beaches. Comfortable , clean. The coffee table in the living room has a glass top that overhangs the table by quite a bit. I banged my knee on it every time I walked past it. You shiuld consider getting a top to fit. My only complaint."

  • Good value

"Large and nicely landscaped resort. Pros: Unit very clean, helpful and friendly staff, wonderful gardens, lovely beach, unit close to high end restaurant, small shopping centre across street, very communicative and knowledgeable owner, ground floor unit an asset, large lanai, barbecue nearby, lots of birds, large mature trees Cons: Unit a bit dated, some traffic noise, can hear footsteps of guests from unit above, no swimming pool in complex, guests barbecueing can be noisy,"

  • Pretty good lodging in amazing location

"Greg was good to deal with and everything was as advertised. Bed was comfy and condo was in a good location with a short walk through lovely manicured grounds to the ocean. The linens were clean as were the counters etc, however, the place could use a deep clean/fresh coat of paint i.e. there was toothpaste spatter on the walls, the light switches were a bit grimy, and the kitchen is out of date. That said I felt comfortable there and really how much time do you spend inside staring at the walls while in Kauai? It would have been nice if dishwasher tabs had been provided as we never thought to pack them, since I had to go buy some I left a few for the next guest. Staff at the resort/condo were always friendly and helpful and it was nice to be able to go to the beach hut and get fresh towels and book snorkeling trips etc. The barbecues were clean and we enjoyed grilling while looking out at the ocean. As there is no A/C you'll want to sleep with the windows open and while we found the area very quiet I'd suggest packing some earplugs just incase, one night the rain was pouring so hard it woke us up. Local tips The breakfast buffet at the Sheraton next door was pricey but worth it and if you download the "Yelp" app on your phone add them and tell them you get off your meal. If you need sunscreen go down to the beach hut where they sell "Reef Safe" biodegradable sunscreen for only $8, it saved my trip after I had an allergic reaction to "Banana Boat" (seems they changed their formula). Food is expensive in Kauai cheapest place is Costco."
