  • Beautiful and perfect!

"We returned again for another wonderful stay. There truly is nothing wanting in this location. It is perfectly situated with access to various beaches, walks, and the Grand Hyatt and yet secluded enough to be peaceful and quiet. The house is beautifully decorated and always is exceptionally well kept. The gardens provide three different sitting areas depending on the time of day and how much sun you want to enjoy. The front entry is terrific for morning coffee and watching the clouds come over the mountains. The patio off the kitchen is the place to eat all your meals ( I doubt we've ever eaten inside!)..and then the pool is the perfect spot for a swim, sun and a cocktail. We've enjoyed many rental properties, a number of them on Kauai and this is easily the nicest and best. Thanks Gary & Sara!"

  • Beautiful House / Great Location

"We recently stayed at this home with two other couples. There were six of us. It was very spacious and very comfortable. Everyone had a wonderful time! The house has a great kitchen and plenty of supplies. We cooked a lot of meals there and it worked out great! The beds are very comfortable also. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful and the location is very close to shopping and restaurants. It was a perfect vacation! We would definitely stay at this property again!"

  • The perfect house for our Kauai vacation!

"I did a lot of research before choosing Akala Pua for our Kauai vacation. On paper, the price was good, and the house seemed to meet all our needs. When we arrived, I was pleased that everything was as advertised. As you walk in the front door, the ground floor has 3BD/3BA. This worked well for us, as each of our two kids could have their own bedroom and bathroom. The beds were comfortable. There is also a laundry room with late model washer/dryer. (This really came in handy as our clean clothes started to dwindle near the end of our stay.) Upstairs is a large room with living area, dining area (with large dining table), and a kitchen. The kitchen was well-supplied: the only thing we really needed to buy to cook meals was the food. This room has high vaulted ceilings that added to the sense of space. There were numerous windows all over the house that could let the trade winds in, and ceiling fans in every room. This allowed us to stay relatively comfortable during hot humid days and nights. The location was ideal. A five minute walk west on Lawai road takes you to Lawai Beach, which is a bit rocky, but has good snorkeling (you can rent snorkel equipment right there at Boss Frogs). A five minute walk west takes you to the Kukui’ula Shopping Center with some good restaurants and shops (and generally has several musicians in outside in the evenings to). For shopping, the Kukui’ula Market is about a block away (a lot less expensive than the Living Food Market in the shopping center!). A five minute drive takes you to the Poipu Beach Park, with great swimming/wading for the family, as well as some really good snorkeling. Restaurants in the resort/tourist areas are generally good but expensive. I recommend also trying out diners and cafes frequented by locals as the food is excellent, copious, and reasonable. You sometimes have to search those out. Here are a couple of suggestions: Tip Top Café in Lihue and the Waipouli Deli & Restaurant in Kapaa. We called the management company (Garden Island Rentals) once with a question. They were responsive and friendly. We had a great time in the perfect house for a family."

  • The lure of the waves...

"We loved our stay on the beautiful island of Kauai, as well as our stay at the condo at Kuhio Shores! To have that kind of view is priceless! Mesmerized but the waves in the morning while enjoying our coffee outside and in the evening with a glass of wine! The beautiful waters of the Pacific are literally steps from the door! The condo is well appointed with a comfy bed and anything in the kitchen you may need. It was nice to have beach towels and chairs supplied as well! What a wonderful week we had! Mahalo!!!"
