  • Kauai- Makahuena Property 58638

"We (family of 4) stayed at the Makahuena, Poipu condo for 7 days. We enjoyed the stay and the property greatly. Everything was in order when we arrived and Lea met us and showed us around and gave us information on beaches and eating places close to the condo. She was very helpful. The beds are very comfortable. No A/C but not needed- a very nice breeze at night makes it comfortable. The condo is on the third floor, which makes it nice for the great view of the ocean. Coffee on the porch is great. The condo is stocked with everything you might need- first aid kit, snorkling gear, boogie boards, towels, pots/pans, dishes, cutlery, zip locks, spices, cable TV, internet- everything. The grounds are very well maintained. The pool is cleaned every morning and the landscaping is manicured. We did not see any bugs or other critters. We felt "at home" here immediately. Kauai is such a beautiful island. We would like to return every year to this condo. No complaints to report!"

  • The perfect house for our Kauai vacation!

"I did a lot of research before choosing Akala Pua for our Kauai vacation. On paper, the price was good, and the house seemed to meet all our needs. When we arrived, I was pleased that everything was as advertised. As you walk in the front door, the ground floor has 3BD/3BA. This worked well for us, as each of our two kids could have their own bedroom and bathroom. The beds were comfortable. There is also a laundry room with late model washer/dryer. (This really came in handy as our clean clothes started to dwindle near the end of our stay.) Upstairs is a large room with living area, dining area (with large dining table), and a kitchen. The kitchen was well-supplied: the only thing we really needed to buy to cook meals was the food. This room has high vaulted ceilings that added to the sense of space. There were numerous windows all over the house that could let the trade winds in, and ceiling fans in every room. This allowed us to stay relatively comfortable during hot humid days and nights. The location was ideal. A five minute walk west on Lawai road takes you to Lawai Beach, which is a bit rocky, but has good snorkeling (you can rent snorkel equipment right there at Boss Frogs). A five minute walk west takes you to the Kukui’ula Shopping Center with some good restaurants and shops (and generally has several musicians in outside in the evenings to). For shopping, the Kukui’ula Market is about a block away (a lot less expensive than the Living Food Market in the shopping center!). A five minute drive takes you to the Poipu Beach Park, with great swimming/wading for the family, as well as some really good snorkeling. Restaurants in the resort/tourist areas are generally good but expensive. I recommend also trying out diners and cafes frequented by locals as the food is excellent, copious, and reasonable. You sometimes have to search those out. Here are a couple of suggestions: Tip Top Café in Lihue and the Waipouli Deli & Restaurant in Kapaa. We called the management company (Garden Island Rentals) once with a question. They were responsive and friendly. We had a great time in the perfect house for a family."

  • Our Perfect Getaway Condo!

"This condo in Poipu Sands has stolen my heart! Where to begin? This was so much more than we expected...it was our home away from home. I miss it so! The condo is perfectly located with amazing ocean views. Just a nice little walk and you're at the Hyatt and beach where there were always many surfers to watch. The master bedroom was super comfie with a lovely huge shower which was fantastic! And the breezes that would flow through the condo...just lovely. No A/C needed. Just perfect. Our morning would start with coffee out on the deck with the sun rising and end each evening out on the deck with a nice cocktail. We were treated to a fantastic fireworks display by the Hyatt and we had the best seats in the house-wow! The condo is perfectly located with all the many shops and restaurants nearby and Hanapepe Town with their many art galleries. You will love this spot! It was so cozy and just felt like home. I have to mention Jan who was super attentive and just wonderful to us. We highly recommend this vacation rental and have marked it as one of our favorites. We hope to return again very soon. Thank you Jan!"

  • Gorgeous and Comfy

"My husband and I loved our stay in Kauai. Kevin and Molla's place was part of what made our trip so wonderful. We sat on the lanai in the afternoons and watched the turtles. At night we fell asleep to the sound of the ocean. The condo itself is beautiful and very clean. Molla (owner) stayed in touch through out our trip to make sure we were having a wonderful time. I don't think there is a more perfect place to stay. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to visit the island."
