  • Home away from Home

"My family of 7 (including 3 kids under 8) stayed at the Hale Ohana for 1 month. It truly felt like a "home away from home." The house is very spacious with three bedrooms and a family room in addition to the living room. We felt so comfortable coming back to "our home" from the beach. There are nice fans in each room and there was an ocean breeze almost every night that helped to cool things down. There were only a few days out of the whole stay that the heat was a bit bothersome at night. We cooked most of our meals for which the kitchen was more than comfortable. We felt the cookware need an upgrade and the owner had that handled in no time (getting us a whole new set of cookware!). She is wonderful to work with. The garage is very spacious and filled with beach toys, chairs and an umbrella (which we used daily). We appreciated having a nice washing machine/dryer in the garage. It helped keep the heat out of the main living area. We were a little worried about the distance from the beach so we had a rental car for the whole stay. However, we discovered that it truly is a comfortable walk to the beach (if you're not bringing a bunch of gear). The neighborhood is very safe and quiet. Overall this home was just right for OUR needs. Is this a high end luxury home? No. Is is a comfortable home that is well thought out and stocked with all the basic needs and then some? Absolutely! Without a doubt, I would choose this house over most condos in the area! Certainly hope that we can come back."

  • Poipu Sands Gem

"Thank you Greg and Shelley, Wonderful accommodations! The condo was beautiful, comfortable, clean and well equipped. . Poipu Sands is a beautiful complex, and the surroundings breath taking. We couldn't have asked for a better place to spend our 30th anniversary. We hope to revisited, and recommend highly."

  • Celebrated 30th Anniversary

"We loved our week long stay at Hololani. Everything was as described in the listing--no surprises. Communications with the rental office were prompt. The location is pretty good. It is about 1/2 mile to Poipu beach. I went on foot almost every day to snorkel and we drove when we had beach gear to haul. About 1/2 mile in the other direction was Shipwreck beach (by the Hyatt) but due to high surf no safe swimming. However, right there is the start of the Maha'ulepu Heritage Trail which had gorgeous views. The farther you get down the trail, the farther you want to go. We were also able to explore the island with day trips to the north shore and west to Waimea canyon. Other general recommendations: Blue Dolphin Sunset Cruise, Hukilau Lanai (nice dinner), and the farmer's market in Koloa (fresh fruit for breakfast)."

  • Love this location

"Kiahuna plantation is a superior place to stay. We've admired the location and grounds on previous trips and finally opted to stay here. We'd highly recommend it - the location is perfect with a good beach and short walk to snorkeling at Poipu. The grounds are beautifully maintained and the short walk across the street to shops, restaurants and the athletic club can't be beat. (Quick note on the athletic club . . . Small pool and spa, great weight room and tennis courts, good cardio room. But, no yoga or other classes except water aerobics. Apparently they had these in the past and may again. I mention this because my wife was looking forward to yoga classes . . . .luckily she found one at the Sheraton next door.) This unit is upstairs and the only one with a second floor entry - the units on either side are two story. The building is a way from the road, so very quiet . . .for the most part. Since there is no a/c anywhere, everyone keeps there door and windows open all the time. You can hear the neighbors when the doors are open, but everyone during our stay kept the noise down (except one night). Also, since sound carries quite a bit, we could hear people partying until 2 a.m. a few nights from neighboring buildings. We mentioned it to security finally, and they managed it. This unit itself is clean but in need of serious updating. The furniturein the family room is shot, the shower door is missing a handle, the dishwasher sticks, the CD player doesn't work, the DVD player sticks, etc. There are no instructions on . . . anything so be resourceful. The owners acknowledged these things . . . after we arrived . . . and indicated that changes were coming. We would definitely stay here again if that takes place. Overall, we mostly loved it . . . it would be a 5 star review if the unit wasn't so tired."
