  • Great Value compared to a hotel

"Best view ever, if you want to literally be across the street from theo beach, this is the home to rent. We normally have stayed at the big hotel Down the street and have paid a lot per room. This place has a way better view, you also have 2 good size bedrooms and bathrooms. A great kitchen with everything in it. They have thought of everything for providing guest, such as great tommy Bahama beach chairs, beach towels, umbrella, kids toys etc. the yard is huge, and is fenced which would be good for families. We loved the hot tub on the deck. It also had a huge BBQ. We walked to several restauraunts that were close by. It was wonderful being across from poipu beach. Nice to have your washer /dryer. The only thing that we would of liked to of seen in our opinion was " air conditioning". We were there on a week that there were little trade winds and temps in the high 80s and the house was uncomfortablly hot day and night.maybe on a typical kaui windy day, it would be ok. We also didn't find the beds to be that comfortable ( it's a firm mattress). In the non master bedroom, the twin or full size bed was kind of short for my dad that is 5'10 unless his head was touching the baseboard. The house was very clean, and we loved the bowl of treats the owners give to guest. Wifi worked well enough, it slowed a bit at night in back bedroom, but nothing major. Cable tv was good. We enjoyed the deck each day, (wish there had been a ceiling fan on it,and a recliner chair), but the table and chairs that are on it were comfy. We enjoyed seeing the large toads in the yard each night. The people and cars in front of the house were quiet despite it being on a residential street. We hope to back the next time we go to kaui!"

  • Sunny everyday!!

"This beach house and location were perfect for our family. My husband and I and our four grown children(17-24) had non-stop fun. The beach across the street felt like our private beach. The house had a closet full of beach supplies so we were equipped with boogie boards, umbrellas, coolers, etc. We spent every free minute out there playing in the water, watching the stars and relaxing in the sun. The house was also very well equipped for cooking and grilling at home. Each of the bedrooms have air conditioning which made for a very restful sleep. Waimea Canyon is basically in your backyard and full of great hikes with amazing vistas. Our favorite was Waipo'o Falls, because you can swim in the water to cool off. Polihale Beach is so close and also deserted. Highly recommend Bubbles Below scuba outfit for underwater adventures. The owner Linda is extremely knowledgable and her staff excellent. They leave from Port Allen which is only a 15 minute drive from Kekaha. We did a local dive and a day at Ni'ihau. We dove with monk seals, sharks, turtles, etc. Some of the best diving we have done. Also recommend the sea kayaking trip down the Na Pali Coast. It is a full day event and very challenging physically, but well worth it. We did do some hikes on the North side of the island. They also were spectacular but all of us were shocked how much more crowded the north side of the island was. The traffic and crowds were a bit of a culture shock. After any adventure to Hanalei area, we were always so happy to return to our sunny, private beach with no parking issues. We loved this house and location and would definitely stay here again."

  • Perfect experience all the way around, and only one problem ....

"The problem? You need to make sure you book excursions and outings well in advance of your arrival or you will NEVER LEAVE THIS HOUSE. It's comfortable, spacious, well furnished, thoroughly updated ... you feel like you're in Kauai back in the 30's when sugar was king, but still have all the amenities of the 21st century. When you book a year in advance there's a lot of time to worry about details. But by the time our family and an aunt arrived all the worries fell away one by one: * Isn't it a long way away from Lihue and the north shore attractions? Yes, but the island is small enough that we could make several excursions to the north and east sides and come back with plenty of time for swimming and reading at the house. * No A/C? Yes, but the front doors open to the ocean breeze and every room and lanai has one or two huge Hunter fans. It was breezy and cool every day and I had to use a blanket at night. On the day of our arrival it was humid and still, but very day afterwards we had perfect sea breezes. * Right by a highway? Yes, but with the surf running all day and night you hardly notice. You're also pretty close to the end of the road, so traffic is limited enough that we never waited more than 5 seconds before crossing over to the beach. * Can you even see the sun set into the ocean with Niihau in the way? Nope, not in July ... but the colors are so incredible and the surf so harmonious it doesn't matter. We thought about driving around to Polihale for a better view, but every night's sunset from the upper veranda or down on the rocks was perfect. * Doesn't it rain a lot in Kauai? Yes -- 450 inches a year on Mt Waialeale just a few miles away. But down in Kekaha we barely had two small showers in 11 days, and perfect weather all other times. In short, everything I worried about came to nothing. The kids had a blast naming all the geckos (Two-Tail Timmy was a favorite), my 70+ year old Aunt had no problem navigating the broad stairs and getting in our out of the pool. There was room for all of us to be together, claim a quiet hammock, or do "coffee and guitar" on a veranda. Highly recommend Sunrise Helicopter tour, Na Pali coast our with Capt Andy, a kayak/hike up the Wailea river to Secret Falls, & Koloa Zipline was an awesome experience. All made better by the fact we'd be coming back to this gracious house when done. We looked at a lot of Kauai houses: so glad we picked this one."

  • Perfect family vacation on Kauai

"We just arrived home from staying in this lovely rental for two weeks with our daughter, son-in-law, and two young grandsons. The location was absolutely perfect for attending our family reunion held nearby, and for enjoying the July 4th celebration with fireworks in the park. The hands down favorite feature of the house is the second floor lanai. Waking up to the sound of waves, enjoying coffee and meals at the large table, waving to the passing boats and watching sunsets were our favorite activities. Second favorite feature are the spacious and fabulous bathrooms. Street noise from cars driving by wasn't an issue for us after the second day. With a million dollar view, who even notices the cars? The location is very close to Port Allen for dinner and snorkeling cruises, Salt Pond Park, and it's a quick 3 miles to Waimea for JoJo's Shave Ice, Ishihara's, Big Save, and more. We highly recommend trying Lappert's ice cream a few miles away in Hanapepe where all the art galleries are located. Having a washer and dryer was great and enabled us to pack lighter. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed when we decided to eat in. Tip: there's a small local market across the parking lot from the post office on Kekaha Road that has the best poke on the island. We met several neighbors who were super friendly. There are a few minor maintenance issues that need attention and the beds could do with new pillows, but overall this is a fantastic vacation rental."
