We had the most amazing experience in Hawaii and was mostly due to where we stayed! David and Dawn were the most amazing hosts! Very responsive and helpful with restaurants, things to do and made our stay very comfortable! This place was perfect for our family of 5 and the views - stunning!! We plan to come back and know exactly where we would stay!!

I have stayed in many rental homes and this is by far the best equipped rental home I have ever stayed in. We love to cook and usually can’t find enough pots and pans and utensils and this house had them all.We also had the privilege of their neighbors having goats and baby goats and cows which we enjoyed seeing from the deck of the house The house was also close enough to major towns And easy to find I would definitely stay here again on our next trip to Maui

I love the property and its location as I am originally from Makawao. The grounds are well maintained, as are the cottages and home. The dwellings are rustic, swimming pool fantastic, kitchen lst class and ambiance "no ka oe" Aloha SJP

The most fabulous 5 star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stay ever in Maui! Cool breezes upcountry and the spectacular accommodations make this a real prize! Clean, luxury bath ( great water pressure- luxury towels) washer /dryer and kitchen, most comfortable king bed with TV, living room space with desk. Separate entry, easy access off Kula roads. I will return in a heartbeat! Added extra of a sweet fresh bakery treats each morning. The highlight of our 5 day stay on Maui! Need a car- not a problem. Small market in Kula nearby. Botanical gardens near by, little Kula downtown with great 5 star eats at both Kula Bistro and Kula restaurant .

You know some properties appear much larger in the pictures than you find when you check in? Not this one. Spacious, with sliding glass doors that can open up the house to the courtyard. Lovely upcountry property well-equipped for visits to the beach (Kihei is 30 minutes away). Kula is where you want to be if Haleakala is on your list. The sun rising over the mountain starts your day and sinking into the sea near Lanai ends it. Perfect.

Stay here! The location is a little off the beaten path, but let's be honest, you'll be driving the Road to Hana anyway (If you are looking to do the back half of the Road to Hana, this location is great for an early start going counter-clockwise [stop at Grandma's Coffee House]). The drive to Kahului, Lower Paia, Kihei, and the vistas on the way are all worth it. Please, stay here and enjoy the retreat. My fiancé and I stayed here for four nights on the first half of a trip to Maui with my parents before their arrival, and if we could have stayed here the whole time, we both agree we would have. Lori was kind, communicative, tidy, and made us feel like we were family. Our pantry was stocked, the grill was always ready for us to use when we made breakfast in the cool morning breeze, the cozy space was spruced up when we left in a hurry in the mornings to explore Kula and Keokea and the rest of Maui. At the higher altitude, mornings & evenings are comfortably cool, allowing you to keep your windows open and enjoy a breeze, no air conditioning required (November visit). The upcountry areas are rich with history, people, culture, and explorable areas. Pukalani, Makawao, and Paia all provided unique places to discover outside of the well-traversed Kihei. While we were here, we found several locations for Live Music (all genres), creative spaces & studios, distilleries & wineries, local theatre, & lesser social-media'd but still incredible food. Our third visit to The Star Lookout, and nothing has changed one bit really since our last trip in 2019. Seeing Ray once again was absolutely priceless, and hanging-out with Gin & Tonic (the cats) was perfect for us, as we have a pair just like them at home. Talk about "all the comforts" of home, we love those cats. The Star Lookout is the place to admire God's Art Gallery, both day and night. I am still honored to have contributed photos to the website of the night sky. This trip the clouds were playing and we shot day/night 4k timelapse and counted over 100 deer running in the wild. Janice, you really are a blessing to all of us who have experienced this place. Mahalo nui loa for sharing this amazing house with those of us who are able to stay here even for one night. There is no other place on Maui like this, but no kinder hosts and caretakers either. We sure love you people, and the house. I am already planning for next summer. Aloha, and fo shua, a hui ho! H&S

Staying here was so beautiful and relaxing. The property was quiet, beautiful and comfortable. We will be back!
