"We can truly say that we "did" Maui....and I mean the entire island. Aurora Sands is in the perfect location to head in any direction and you feel that nothing is very far! Believe all of the reviews .....it is exactly as everyone has said....comfortable, clean, quiet, and furnished with all the goodies to make your vacation perfect. Great beach gear...chairs, cooler, boogie boards, towels, etc. You might want to invest in a "soft-side" cooler if your rental car is small...the cooler in the condo is hard-sided and large. A load of laundry (right outside of the condo front door) will cost you $1.50 for wash and $1.50 for dry.....do get it in before 8:00 pm or the electricity will be cut off before you finish drying....learned from experience! Check around the condo, you might find some left over detergent.
Our stay lasted a wonderful 10 days....no rain (YAY)...but we had varying winds. Only one day was it rather still, mostly it is windy that drives the trade winds through the condo nicely. We didn't use the little air conditioner...too small to make much of a difference except in the living area. Our adult children felt that the front bedroom could get stuffy by early morning. (Suggestion: A small stand up air conditioner in that room would be a great benefit for sleeping.) The marina wakes up early so you won't need to set an alarm! But we loved the "Ground-Hog Day" effect of tour boat preparations and the coming and going of snorkelers and fisher-people...if you stay you'll know exactly what I mean. General Store is opened at 6:00
The little marina is charming with nice eateries, shopping and people watching. Just watch out for those $5 donuts at the General Store....what a shocker! We took reviewers advice and did our large grocery shopping at Walmart and Costco and ate most of our meals at the Condo....or took road-trip picnics with us. The kitchen is fully supplied and the outside grills are immaculate! You'll enjoy getting to know some of the residents and guests while grilling your favorites!
And speaking of immaculate....the grounds are amazing....pool is saltwater and comfortable even after a little rain. The little beach on the marina side is perfect for late afternoon sunning or a brisk morning swim. There is a long "walking beach at the end of the condo complex, but you'll need to drive down to the end of the road (in front of the condos) to access it....Then you could take an early morning walk all the way to Keihi!"
