  • Accessible unit

"Cons: Window air conditioner in living room only. Unit is right next door to a camping area that is very noisy so you are not able to open your window's at night. As I am writing this review at 7:19 am the grounds crew at the camp ground is weed wacking. There is no washer and dryer in the unit. There is a community laundry facility close to the unit, however there is not a change dispenser and it operates on quarter's. The curtains in the unit need to be replaced. The fan in the bathroom next to the living room is very loud. Pros: Access to the beach Boogie boards, chairs and a cooler Clean unit and complex Managers were very accessible and friendly. Netflix available with the smart tv in the living room. Ample parking."

  • You won't be disappointed!

"When telling one Hawaii friend where we were staying, he said "0h, its windy there..." with that are you sure you want to stay THERE voice. Another friend who lives in Kula, HI said "...OUR BEST KEPT SECRET" The wind is pure gift when temps and humidity are high. After a good night's sleep, we woke each morning with the sun rising over Haleakala. We ate out only twice because of the well-stocked kitchen, the abundance of fresh fish, and the breathtaking view from our lanai dining space. We are not Maui novices, but we spent a day at a place new to us just 6 mi from the condo - the Maui Tropical Plantation - where we enjoyed a walking tour and one of the best lunches ever! Next time I'm going to try their zip line! The central location means you are only 20 min from Kahalui and Kihei. A road trip south to Wailea and Makena just 26 min. And Lahaina is a beautiful 24 min drive. Plan your visit and call Bruce!"

  • Maui hideaway with oceanfront view

"My wife and I stayed in this compact but well maintained condo for two weeks this past March. All amenities are provided from coffee brewer to ice maker as well as pool toys snorkeling equipment, etc. The view from the second floor lanai was spectacular and we were able to see whales and sea turtles during our time there. I've stayed on Maui in the past but always in the Ka'anapali area. This place, Ma'alaea, is much quieter and less congested and is centrally located to other attractions on the island. Several golf courses are nearby as is the Aquarium. We really enjoyed the swap meet/farmers market held at Maui Community College on Saturday mornings. There was excellent produce, friendly vendors, and a nice selection of Maui keepsakes to bring home. I'd highly recommend this Maui getaway. Note that it sleeps four, but it is compact, so you better all be close friends! I should mention that the owner was very responsive and called us several times to make certain we had everything we needed. Nice touch!"

  • Unparalleled views with the best location for getting anywhere on the island!

"We loved our stay at Maalaea Kai! The view is truly amazing. Because of the time change we never missed a sun rise... so beautiful to watch it coming up over Haleakala. You can also see Molokini crater, the island of Lanai, and the boats coming in and out of the harbour. The nice part is that, while you see the boats coming in and out, you can't hear them and you can't actually see the harbour itself. Turtles come in front of the condo everyday to feed off of the rocks. Very entertaining. The grounds are impeccable. The grass is so thick and lush, it's like walking on carpet! The pool is the cleanest and nicest water I've ever swam in. The BBQ grills are thoroughly cleaned every day and we used them almost every day. With this view, we never felt to need to go out for dinner....oceanfront dining everyday for us. Plus it was a great spot to meet people. Others have complained that it is windy , and it is VERY windy. That's what we loved! It made it possible for us to be out enjoying the 80-90 degree weather and created ever changing views with the clouds and the waves. The unit does not have A/C but open the front and back windows and you won't miss it. The beach was a bit of a walk but so worth it. Beautiful sand that went on forever. Never crowded, even on the weekend when the locals would come with their families.....loved meeting with them to find out what living on Maui was really like. Location, location, location! The best for getting anywhere on the island. We drove over to the west side 3 times and could not believe the traffic. A line of cars that crawled on for miles on this single lane highway. Lucky for us it was usually in the other direction. So easy to get to Kahului , Kihei, upcountry, the start of the road to Hana, and of course up to see the sunrise from Haleakala.....a not to be missed moment! We will return!"
