  • Maui hideaway with oceanfront view

"My wife and I stayed in this compact but well maintained condo for two weeks this past March. All amenities are provided from coffee brewer to ice maker as well as pool toys snorkeling equipment, etc. The view from the second floor lanai was spectacular and we were able to see whales and sea turtles during our time there. I've stayed on Maui in the past but always in the Ka'anapali area. This place, Ma'alaea, is much quieter and less congested and is centrally located to other attractions on the island. Several golf courses are nearby as is the Aquarium. We really enjoyed the swap meet/farmers market held at Maui Community College on Saturday mornings. There was excellent produce, friendly vendors, and a nice selection of Maui keepsakes to bring home. I'd highly recommend this Maui getaway. Note that it sleeps four, but it is compact, so you better all be close friends! I should mention that the owner was very responsive and called us several times to make certain we had everything we needed. Nice touch!"

  • Unparalleled views with the best location for getting anywhere on the island!

"We loved our stay at Maalaea Kai! The view is truly amazing. Because of the time change we never missed a sun rise... so beautiful to watch it coming up over Haleakala. You can also see Molokini crater, the island of Lanai, and the boats coming in and out of the harbour. The nice part is that, while you see the boats coming in and out, you can't hear them and you can't actually see the harbour itself. Turtles come in front of the condo everyday to feed off of the rocks. Very entertaining. The grounds are impeccable. The grass is so thick and lush, it's like walking on carpet! The pool is the cleanest and nicest water I've ever swam in. The BBQ grills are thoroughly cleaned every day and we used them almost every day. With this view, we never felt to need to go out for dinner....oceanfront dining everyday for us. Plus it was a great spot to meet people. Others have complained that it is windy , and it is VERY windy. That's what we loved! It made it possible for us to be out enjoying the 80-90 degree weather and created ever changing views with the clouds and the waves. The unit does not have A/C but open the front and back windows and you won't miss it. The beach was a bit of a walk but so worth it. Beautiful sand that went on forever. Never crowded, even on the weekend when the locals would come with their families.....loved meeting with them to find out what living on Maui was really like. Location, location, location! The best for getting anywhere on the island. We drove over to the west side 3 times and could not believe the traffic. A line of cars that crawled on for miles on this single lane highway. Lucky for us it was usually in the other direction. So easy to get to Kahului , Kihei, upcountry, the start of the road to Hana, and of course up to see the sunrise from Haleakala.....a not to be missed moment! We will return!"

  • This is a truly wonderfully maintained home. Clean and well appointed. All the amenities of home!

"First of all, Maalaea is a beautiful place to stay. Away from the busy towns of Lahaina and Kihei but a perfect and easy distance away to explore all of the island. A sweet village. Fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean and breezes of the tradewinds. Sunrise over Haaleakeah, what could be better. I highly recommend this home and hosts Tim and Vicky could not be more prompt in their responses to questions. We will return as soon as we can. Mahalo Tim and Vicky. Lisa Ross Also, enjoy turtle watching in the morning off shore. They are beautiful."

  • A beautiful home away from home

"First off, the owner was terrific to work with. Communication was quick, easy and detailed. Now - to the fun part - the property is a perfect home away from home. Everything we needed was right there and our week in Maui was made even better by having this clean, quiet getaway to return to at the end of great days exploring the island. Morning coffee was perfect while watching the sun-rise through the palms over the water. Evenings were beautiful feeling the breeze of the water and looking out past the pool. In a word - we just felt comfortable. We were able to focus on having a great time without a bit of stress. We would highly recommend this property to anyone looking to experience the entire island. It is centrally located and provides easy access to any activity you may want to experience on Maui. During this week we saw the sunset on Haleakala, drove the road to Hana, had some great shopping and dining in Lahaina and Kihei and experienced many great beaches. We never felt like anything was out of the way. We didn't do any cooking at the property except for light breakfast, but the kitchen had everything we needed. The appliances we used most were the washer and dryer - - sure is nice to be able to pack light and not worry about carrying too many suitcases. THANK YOU for an amazing time!"
