"It was just what the doctor ordered. A very homey condo with all the amenities with very helpful owners. We had a one and 4 year old so the loft which overlooked the family room (hide a bed) was not too helpful as a bedroom for youngsters. However it would be great for older children who didn't go to bed very early. This condo was in a great location -great beach for youngsters, a park and only 3 min. from the ocean. Even the sea turtles liked the beach. One could also walk to a myriad of good restaurants from the condo."

  • Kihei Surfside

"My wife and I enjoyed our honeymoon stay at Kihei Surfside so much, we returned 7 years later for another vacation. I'm wondering why we waited so long! I'll start with the only downside: there's no A/C in this building. On days when the winds are blowing in off the water, this isn't that much of a problem. But when the air is still and hot, opening windows/doors at opposite ends of the unit doesn't do much good, and one begins to baste in his/her own juices. Other than that, there is no downside. In our experience, Kihei tends to cool down at night enough to get a good night's rest, and if you're vacationing on Maui, what're you doing in your room during the day anyway - go sightsee, go lay on the beach, go diving, etc... ! Not to say that the rooms are anything but comfy and NICE. The ocean view smacks you in the face as soon as you open the door - which as far as I'm concerned is the #1 draw of the whole building. Units farther to the left (as you face the front of the building) are of course more desirable due to their proximity to the water. IF you can, go for lower numbered units on each floor (101, 201, 301 instead of 115, 215, 315) since you'll be closer to the water and the ocean will fill more of your view. That having been said, give me the ground floor unit farthest from the water, and I'd not complain, and you're an ungrateful slob that can't be satisfied if you'd complain. Both the units we've stayed in have been tastefully appointed - very stylish and inviting. Now that I've said all this, please disregard it: if Kihei Surfside gets too popular, there won't be any availability when we next want to stay there."
