  • Our first trip to Maui....fantastic

"On arrival, after hours, we found the telephone outside the office did not work and not having our own telephone made it a challenge to register and advise of our arrival. We wondered if that was an omen of things to come. In fact, it was the only problem we encountered. The resort was immaculate and well cared for. It is located just off the main highway intersection that takes you north to Lahaina, east to Kahului, and south to Wailea. The resort seems to be a bit windier than some of the southern beaches but the light breeze helped keep us cool. The beach is beautiful and we enjoyed morning walks along the shoreline. The water is scattered with coral so would recommend watershoes if venturing out more than 50 ft. from shore. The unit was a well appointed, clean, and very comfortable. Instructions on how to register the next morning, the pass codes to the unit and private areas, Resort protocols etc were all included in our check- in package. I think the best surprise was that beach towels, a body board, beach chairs and umbrella were all supplied by the owner. That made life so much easier than trying to rent some. It was great to have the sun on the lanai every morning and made eating breakfast there even more enjoyable. Although the units are not directly facing the ocean, you still had a good view of the courtyard and beach. The unit is on the north-east end of the property; it is only a short walk to the pool, hot tub and BBQ grills, which was a great gathering place to meet new friends and share stories of the day. We look forward to staying here again."

  • Wonderful and relaxing week!

"Sugar Beach is our go-to place to stay on Maui. We've tried a couple other places, but always end up back here. We've stayed in several units over the years, but unit 414 is the best unit we've stayed in by far. Wonderfully appointed, well equipped kitchen and primo location on the 4th floor . . . and oceanfront as well. Also, best check in service and agency we've ever worked with. When we come back to Maui, we will absolutely book this unit again!!!!"

  • Such a pretty, comfortable condo, right on the palm-tree lined beach: quintessential Maui!

"We felt SO grateful EVERY day, to be able to enjoy this clean, bright, nicely appointed condo, and especially to be able to open up the huge sliding glass doors to the lanai, to relish the view of the boats and the whales and the water. How wonderful to be able to stay right on the beautiful Sugar Beach! A few minor issues need attention: a missing light bulb ( remedied while we were there), loose socket heads and ornamental tops of lamps, a temperamental toaster, a torn screen on lanai door, a broken beach umbrella. But none of these were enough to keep us from enjoying every minute! We liked the layout of the bedroom, with the privacy afforded by the large sliding wall panel, separating the bedroom from the vanity and bath area. Very clever design: allowed one of us to start the day early, showering, etc., while the other could sleep in a little, undisturbed. This would be especially nice if several people were sharing the condo. Some other vacation rentals provide basic condiments such as salt & pepper, seasoned salt, sugar, cooking oil, etc. This would have been appreciated, preventing each guest from having to buy their own, only to have it thrown out upon departure. Overall, we would certainly recommend this condo and Sugar Beach Resort. Although there are many units in this complex, once we were in the condo, we found it quiet and private. We like the central location, away from the noise and commotion of downtown Kihei. The grounds and pool are beautifully kept, the covered parking is convenient. Thank you for being willing to share your little piece of paradise, so that other snowed-in travellers like us can enjoy an escape to the fabulous sun and sand and surf and snorkelling of Maui! Mahalo!"

  • Awesome! Loved it here. Bed could be newer. Saggy. All else was great.

"Well kept. Great workers! Beautiful. Would loved to stay longer. Only one thing on smoking. I am very allergic to smoke and there are some who smoke on lanai. This makes me have to move inside. It would be good if the non smoking rule was more enforced."
