  • Wonderful place to stay

"We received stayed in Gary's condo for 5 days with our 5 year old son. The apartment is lovely with beautiful finishes, and we particularly appreciated the well appointed kitchen. The beach is beautiful and the view from the apartment can't be beat. Thanks for having us, we hope to return!"

  • Excellent Location!

"This condo exceeded our expectations! The owner Gary was also very responsive and accommodating when we asked to extend our checkout time, and when we had a minor maintenance issue. Here are just a few things I would want to know prior to booking: The Mana Kai condo building has a pretty darn perfect location. It's in Kihei, which is on the southern side of Maui and is less crowded/touristy than the northern side of the island (Lahaina). The condo is a short 5-10 minute drive from downtown Kihei, which has several cute little restaurants, and you can also drive 5 minutes south and get to Wailea, which has more upscale dining and shopping. The view from the balcony (and really the entire condo) is spectacular - the beach is almost directly under the balcony and you see Molokini Crater in the distance! Other perks about the location are that the condo building has a great restaurant - 5 Palms - on the first floor, which has an excellent happy hour ($7 Mai Tai's!). The building also has a convenience store in it, which was super handy, and a grass covered beach area with chairs/showers provided. Really, it can't get much better than that! Oh wait, it's also 5 minutes from the boat dock, which comes in very handy if you are planning any water excursions. Some minor things to be aware of: one of the bedrooms is basically connected to the living room, and at night there is a retractable wall that you move into place to "create" the bedroom. The bedroom is therefore not super private, and it can also get pretty hot at night because the air conditioning does not circulate properly when then wall is closed. Another thing to be aware of is that the 5 Palms kitchen is directly below this unit (#203). Occasionally, we'd return to the condo and it would smell strongly like a restaurant kitchen. However, these issues were very minor and we would undoubtedly choose to stay here again!"

  • The Renovation is INCREDIBLE!

"Hi Dore and Yolanda, We have stayed at your place several times and always thought it was one of the nicest units at the Mana Kai. WOW, your renovation is unbelievable! You always had the unit decorated so beautifully making us feel warm and welcome to your beach condo; you have out done yourself in the new remodel! . The new kitchen and bathrooms are exquisite; the bamboo cupboards and granite counter tops are awesome and the new floor tile throughout the unit pulls it all together! We had another couple stay in the back bedroom and they said they had never stayed in such a nice place. Adding the air conditioner through out the entire unit was a nice addition, though most of the time we just enjoyed the ocean breeze through the sliding glass doors. You were right about the WHALES...we were able to see them off your deck looking out your fabulous view. Thank you, thank you, thank you for a great place to stay. It really is the best location and you two are fabulous hosts. We will book again with you for later this year. Aloha."

  • Ideal place to stay on Maui

"I met my folks here for my 40th birthday as we are on different ends of the world right now. It was a reunion as I used to live on Maui. It was an ideal spot! Thanks for sharing your holiday home with us in paradise, we would come back in a heartbeat REASAONS ITS GREAT: -Congenial, helpful owners -Nice/reasonable price -Stunning view and amazing sea breeze- we didnt need the air conditioner (this time of year anyway) -Great beach for long walks, sitting and relaxing -Lawn access with tree shade when beach is too windy or otherwise -Great snorkelling at your doorstep- I snokelled every day -Rentals, shop, bar, restaurant and pool on site which were all great -A 3 min drive or short walk from kihei town, shops and more restaurants -Quiet -Really comfortable beds! -Everything we needed was there including kitchen supplies, beach equipment, towels etc ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT: - Maid and handyman may need call as the floors and counters were dirty when we arrived, we fixed the doorknob as it was falling off and the kitchen table seems to be falling apart- beyond wobbly - In need of paint job and could use some brighter artwork to spruce things up"
