Recent South Kihei (Kamaole III Beach Area) reviews

  • An excellent property within an ideally sized condo complex

"Excellently presented condo with lovely decor and quality chattels. Clean and well maintained. Within the "U" shaped Hale Kamaole complex this unit is perfectly positioned for ease of access to the upper pool and BBQ area. Owners were very responsive and quickly followed up on the one or two queries we had. Good swimming beaches right over the road and we again saw turtles there in waist deep water. Easy walks to 5 Palms restaurant (great happy hours) and Freds or Moose McGillicuddys (2 good bars) and Cafe O Lei (great sushi) We have stayed at HK many times over the past 30 years and this is an excellent condo that we would readily recommend to anyone."

  • An excellent end to our Hawaiin adventure

"After a week on Kauia at two high-end resorts, and a quick stop at a small B&B in Hana, we settled into this Kamaole Sands unit for 5 nights. It turned out great--the apartment had everything one could want, Roy and Audrey offered a lot of great advice, and the complex is very well-maintained. We appreciated the nice pool and hot tub options, even though the beach was a short walk/drive (we drove just because we tended to take too much junk but we could have walked) Kamaole 3 beach wasn't quite as calm as many said but it was winter and huge swells were hitting the rest of maui, so the small waves weren't too much trouble. But for very small kids, the pool or nearby beaches may be better choices. We grilled stakes one night on the available Weber BBQs, and had tons of restaurant options in driving or walking distance. The new maur brewing company taphouse was a 10 minute drive and our favorite--they usually have food trucks, plus 30+ beers! lots of folks were regulars at the Sands--many from Canada--and i can see why they return. It's not a fancy resort but a very good value in a nice, casual part of Maui."

  • Kamaole Sands

"Wonderful condo on beautiful grounds. Fully equipped with everything you could need, down to beach chairs, boogie boards, beach towels and umbrellas! The only thing that kept it from an excellent review was the lack of a good a/c unit. It was really hot while we were visiting, made it tough to sleep upstairs (the downstairs bedroom had its own unit and was nice and cool). Centrally located with a beach directly across the street. Great restaurants nearby, our favorite was Cafe O'Lei...excellent lunch specials!"
