  • Our Fifth Visit to Kamaole Sands

"Once again, Lis and her condo didn't disappoint. Clean and well stocked as usual. Lots of new additions since our last visit. New foam mattress for the sofa bed, new chairs for the beach, new toaster oven in the kitchen and the list goes on. Thanks again for taking such good care of us and allowing us to check out a little later than the norm, it really helped with the delayed flight back to the mainland. Dates are already in place for 2017 and I'll let you know about 2018 when I can. Aloha & Mahalo"

  • Nice, Clean and Affordable South Maui Condo description proved to be accurate.

"We chose this condo in Kihei because of location and the above description, which proved to be accurate. Although cozy we found the property to be adequate space for 2 adults for our month in Maui. The condo is thoughtfully decorated in neutral tones with island decor. We appreciated that we were welcome to use items that we typically are required to purchase while in Hawaii, such as: beach umbrella, sand chairs, ice chest, etc. etc. The bed was comfortable and cotton linens were plentiful. The furnature is somewhat undersized for comfort, but it is cute. The owner was responsive when we shared a concern about the ceiling fan. The entire complex is very well maintained and the pool area is a gem. The location was splendid for our needs and we chose to forgo a rental car for half of the trip. This was possible because we were only a 15 minute walk to grocery and 5 minutes to nearest beach. The Maui bus system is very well established and easy once you get the hang of it. Shuttle service from Roberts is also available to the airport. We are leaving today having felt very safe and rested."

  • Life is what you make of it

"Overall, the condo was great and well equipped for our needs. View: The view was greater than 180 degrees, elevated about 30+ feet off the ground. You are only 30 feet or so from the ocean as well, so it's all right in front of you. The only issue I had with the view was that the fronds of a palm tree sits right in the middle of it all. I'm sure in 10 years the tree will be taller and thus not block the view, but it is currently a little annoying. Pool: Not heated, so it was much cooler than the ocean. Many permanent residents like to lay by the pool during the day, using up almost all of the chairs and making me feel guilty for bringing my 3 year old to splash around for an hour. Beach: Great beach. The fishpond protects the beach on premise very nicely. It acts as a barrier for the big waves and leaves nice gentle waves no matter which direction or how hard the wind is blowing. The entire fishpond is walkable, as the deepest I found it was up to my chest (I'm 5'7"). The sea turtles that live in the fishpond are fun to watch, but I would hope that people respect them and keep a certain distance. Bed: We found the bed comfortable, though I can see how some might find the mattress pad too soft. If you don't like it, you could always just take the pad off and put it back when you leave. Futon Pads/No Fold Out Couch: My assumption was that the couch was a fold out for sleeping, but it turns out there are futon pads in the closet for sleeping on. For an adult, they were not very comfortable. Thankfully it was perfect for my kids, they didn't mind. Just know that as of our time of stay, there was no fold out couch and the pads are somewhat thin. Lack of AC: Some have complained that the unit got too hot. There are many fans as well as ways to open windows. If you open the window in the bedroom, it gives some great cold air at night. Yes, outside that window is the walkway, but such is life. My advice, just open some windows, leave your winter pajamas at home, and enjoy the weather, it's why you're there. Condo Extras: The condo had beach toys for our kids, some nice beach chairs, some basic kitchen necessities, binoculars, and some basic bathroom necessities. It was nice to have those ready and waiting for us. Location: Central to pretty much anything you would want. Condo Overall: Yes, it needs some updates and the carpet has some stains. It's still a nice condo and I highly recommend it. Thanks Bob!"
