  • Fantastic Location - Ideal North Shore House

"This is our 3rd time staying in Paia House; it's perfect for us! The interior space is large and cool for meals should you want to cook, but even better is walking into Paia for one of its many many delicious restaurants. There isn't a lot of parking in Paia, so the ability to walk into town makes this spot ideal. You're in a quiet neighborhood with an amazing back-yard for lounging in the shade, doing an outdoor meal, or washing and drying beach and wind sports gear. Greg couldn't be easier to work with to set up, check in and out and everything is always ready, clean, and our favourite home away from home when we're in Maui. We come 2-3 times a year for a week or more of wind sports; always staying on the north shore and Paia House is our first pick - but Greg and team have plenty of others available if someone has already booked Paia House for our dates. Thanks for another amazing week in Maui/Paia!"

  • Relaxed and Easy

"Our stay in Paia was wonderful due in large to our stay at Paia Bay Suites. The home is so conveniently located to walk right to town. The cottage had everything we needed along with ocean views, bay breezes and the sound of crashing waves. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again."

  • Great Cottage Just Outside Paia

"We had a wonderful stay at Maui by the Sea. The cottage is exactly as portrayed on the site and the area by the ocean is even nicer, perched right over the water so you can enjoy the view and the roar of the ocean on the rocks below pretty much any time. We enjoyed our morning coffee, sunset drinks and starlight nights in this setting. As noted, the cottage lives up the pictures and description on the site. We found the bed and other furnishings very comfortable. As far as the highway noise goes, it is noticeable so if you are hypersensitive to that, this may not be the ideal place for you. But the bedroom is on the ocean side and we left the windows open and found that we heard much more of the ocean than we did of the traffic (which really dies down at night). A big plus for us was that the kitchen is very well stocked, with more pots/pans/utensils than you typically find at VRBOs. We made several meals with ingredients from the nearby farmers market and the natural foods store in town. (There are also several good restaurants in town and in other towns nearby if you don't want to cook.) Valerie and Craig were excellent hosts. They were very available, providing a lot of helpful information, but not at all intrusive and in fact very sensitive about respecting our privacy. Valerie was easy to deal with and accommodating ahead of our arrival and responsive to any questions or issues we had while we were there. I appreciate that both on the site and in the reservation process Valerie tends to over-disclose any issue, which means you are pleasantly surprised rather than disappointed. We've booked many properties on VRBO and while our experiences have been overwhelmingly positive, you do get some pictures that are taken from angles you can never actually experience on the property. There isn't any of that here. All-in-all this was a great place to stay that we would stay at again and recommend without reservation to others, especially o folks looking for an area that is a little more offbeat and relaxed than the resorts on the west and south sides."

  • Perfect getaway spot!

"We found the Menehune Cottage on VRBO when looking for a small place for a long weekend in Maui. Anne who is the property manager was great to work with and kept up communication until we landed. Margaret and her husband, who own the property, were around and great to chat with about the history of the house and cottage. The spot was perfect and we couldn't have been happier. The cottage was clean and comfy and even though there wasn't any A/C we were never there during the day and found the house cooled off nicely at night for sleeping. We headed towards Hana easily one day and over to Makena Beach for snorkeling the next. Pa'ia is a great little town with good eats and cute beachy shopping. The general store on the corner by the house had the BEST smoothies and breakfast items. Best of all Mama's and the beach were a very short walk from the cottage. We were already talking about our next stay before we even got to the airport. Thanks for a great weekend stay and we will definitely be back!!"
