  • Exactly what the pictures show

"Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our stay at Waiohuli was great! The condo was just like the pictures show, nice and clean, spacious, perfect for two people. The beach was nice and private. The pool was awesome to have as an option if you didn't feel like getting full of sand and salt. It was about a 30mins walk into Kihei which we found a little far but also meant that it was nice and quiet so a bit of a toss up. Grocery store was across the street so that was convenient. Wifi was super slow which we found frustrating when trying to research stuff or check in for our flights."

  • Rough start but no complaints

"The most important information you need to know is that the owner is very good to work with. There were some issues we found on arrival and they were dealt with immediately and we were grateful. We spoke with the owner who lives on the mainland. He relies on his contacts in Maui, and that can cause some issues for him at times. He does his best tho, and we were satisfied in the end. This resort is one of the oldest in Kihei and it can show it in the units. This unit has no direct view of the water, but a sideways look off the lanai gives you a nice glance. The water sounds and breeze at night are perfect, and no one has direct view into this unit for nice privacy. The stairs right outside the door are so convenient, but the elevator is not a far walk either. Having a washer and dryer in the unit is helpful. Beach towels, linens, a full (but small) kitchen make living easy. We also used the boogie boards, beach chairs and umbrella. While the unit is small (850 sf) it is laid out well and having windows on 3 sides make for a comfortable stay. There is no A/C but none is needed with the ceiling fans running. A TV in each bedroom and the living room let everyone have what they want. The location is so convenient, and while you will hear traffic and people throughout the day, the noise is gone by 10:00pm and only the birds will wake you in the morning. Parking is easy, the location perfect for every direction and the access to the water and snorkeling right outside your door. Grab a glass of wine, and pull up a lawn chair to watch the turtles feed every late afternoon while the sunset relaxes you completely. We enjoyed our first stay in Kihei, and are grateful for the easy communication with the owner. But, remember this is not a hotel. You will not get cleaning service during your stay, and the main office is closed after 4:00 pm and all weekend. If you need help you must contact the emergency number, which didn't initially answer when we called. You will get only basic paper goods, but once you run out you buy your own. Bring your own shampoo/conditioner/soap because you only get one tiny bottle of each. One use and you need to get your own. This unit is not handicap (wheelchair) accessible due to at least 2 steps in any direction to the front door. But there is a lift in the pool and walkers and cane users are not going to have trouble. Thank you Dennis for your hospitality. We enjoyed our stay."

  • Awesome Maui Vacation

"We just returned from an awesome week in Maui. I can't say enough good things about the Maui Kai property. The view from the lanai is beyond description. We watched Humpback Whales and Sea Turtles everyday just sitting at the table on the lanai. The sunsets were awesome. All units on the property are OCEAN FRONT. We kept the lanai door open all of the time, sometimes the surf was so loud that you could not hear the TV, and it took a couple of nights to get used to the surf when going to sleep. It is a small property (which is a great thing). secluded away from traffic and feels very private with plenty of FREE parking. There is a nice grocery store a block away. While kids are welcome here, my advise is if you have kids and are looking for all the amenities, look elsewhere. There is not a beach on the property, but some beach on both sides. This is a great property for adults looking for peace and quiet away from all the kid friendly resorts. The pool and grill area are fantastic. We grilled out 3 nights on their large CLEAN grills. Awesome! Nice clean pool and hot tub, it's not on the ocean as advertised, but was very peaceful and quiet. The one downside to Maui Kai was that the front desk people were very rude. It was as if since we booked through a private owner that were bothered when we registered with them. We had one other interaction with them (the same person) and got the same attitude. As for the 504 unit itself, it was very nice. It was stocked with all of the items you could want for your stay. It was very clean and comfortable. The bed was a very nice king bed. It was a little cozy and tight, especially the bathroom and kitchen, but it was perfect for the two of us. If you had four people it would be a little cramped. The WIFI is very weak. I got much faster response using the data on my phone. One issue with the unit is that they have so much stuff (water sports equipment, linens, cleaning supplies, vacuum cleaner, laundry basket etc.) in the closets that there was only enough room to hang some clothes in part of the bedroom closet and very little room to store your luggage out of the way. Also, we are very early risers and 3 mornings we did not have any hot water until after 6am. I don't know if they are on a timer or what but it was only a minor issue. In closing, I would certainly stay here again and would highly recommend it. It made our delayed honeymoon very special."
