  • Perfect little cottage

"This little cottage was perfect! It had everything we needed that we couldn't bring on the plane and more. Close to paia which is a cute town, but also in more of a "quiet" town which forced us to explore more, but also got to enjoy the area the locals go too which was wonderful. The owners were great, very friendly when we were coming and going. The property has avacado trees and the owners had picked some for us. Overall this was a great experience."

  • A great family stay

"We had a great stay at Hunter Hales. We were a family of 5 and had plenty of room for everyone. Beds are comfortable and the kitchen is perfect !!! We could cook everything comfortably, just like at home. Grocery is nearby, so we had fresh ingredients all the time. Location is very convenient and the place gives you a true Hawaiian feeling with its large garden and coconut trees. We hope to come back again."

  • Comfortable, Lovely, and Relaxing

"My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay at this lovely, quiet, and comfortable cottage. Your deck is so amazing! We would sit, relax, and leisurely enjoy the view and our breakfast before our day started. Then, we would return to comfortable cool Kula to enjoy our evening meals as we sat and watched the sunset and night lights of the city below. The warm beauty and cleanliness of your cottage, and the surrounding foliage and gardens showed us how much care and love you put into it. Mahalo nui loa for your warm welcome and graciousness in sharing a bit of your time, fruits, and vegetables with us. We look forward to returning. Aloha, John and Sharon"

  • Magical, peaceful, beautiful place!

"We have stayed at the Aloha Cottage twice and would highly recommend it. The cottage is a unique, octagon-shaped building with a super comfortable bed (which matters to me because I have a really bad back). The whole place is very clean, well-organized, tranquil, and lovely. The hosts have thought of everything, with a stocked kitchen for cooking, a TV and DVD player, a washer and dryer, a BBQ, a sweet two-person shower, big closet, helpful guidebooks, and a great outdoor jacuzzi tub. Each time we thought of something we wanted or needed, voila, there it was: bug spray, a beach chair, a cooler, etc. I adore the overhead skylight. There is plenty of room for a couple, and a good amount of outdoor space with chairs and table if friends come over for dinner. So, it's got everything you need while on vacation. But beyond that, this place is special in a way that no check list of amenities will convey. The property is just stunning, and the outdoor patio is one of the most peaceful places I've ever been. Beautiful nature surrounds you with a great, positive energy when you are there. We love staying Upcountry, where the pace is slower, the crowds thinner, and it's just way less touristy. The Aloha Cottage is close to the charming downtown Makawao, full of cute local shops and boutiques, a beautiful forest for hiking, and an easy drive to Paia. We plan to stay there again on our next trip to Maui! It's also a great location if you want to do the Road to Hana, Seven Sacred Pools, and Haleakela. Things you should know: there is no A/C, but we kept windows open and it cooled down nicely at night. Prepare for mosquitos at night in the summer. It's up a flight of stairs to get to the cottage, so not accessible for people with mobility issues."
